For your streaming needs, the AIO Twin has built-in wi-fi and Bluetooth 5.0 with support for high-res codecs such as aptX HD as well as basic SBC and AAC. An ethernet port is also included for a more stable connection to your home network. Via the application, you can associate your different streaming application accounts and manage your music: choose to send your favorite song on all the speakers in your house, or to diffuse a different piece from one room to another. With excellent tonal balance across the entire frequency range, this speaker is dynamic and energetic. There’s a decently spacious soundstage here, too, even before you turn on the 3D sound setting within the app. The powerful drums on Royal Blood’s Honeybrains aren’t drowned out by the aggressive guitars, and the vocals have plenty of room to breathe. The mid-range is suitably impactful, while not dominating the mix. Individual elements avoid tripping over each other too. In fact, once the speaker driver has bedded in, the only real downside is “how do you pronounce ‘AIO’?” Is it ‘Ay-Eye-Oh’ or ‘Eh-Oh’, or even ‘Aye-Oh’? If you are from Yorkshire in England, it’s probably ‘Eeee, aye-owe!’ which is almost straight out of Old MacDonald’s Farm.

After my issue with the first speaker, I had no such problems with the second speaker or the AIO‌ C streamer. By the way, Triangle gives you on-screen directions in the app, a user manual, and voice prompts during setup, so they try to make it as easy as possible. It’s balanced across the frequencies: taut bass, clear voices and sparkling, clean treble that’s punchy but never bright.
