When choosing a filing cabinet the most important thing is making sure you get the right size cabinet for your files, especially if you are replacing an existing cabinet or using old files. Foolscap vs. A4Kraft paper suspension files are similar to manilla files but are made with enhanced strength kraft paper. This card-quality material is extremely difficult to rip and feature a laminated reinforced base to provide extra strength and durability. As with manilla suspension files, premium quality kraft files are usually supplied with tabs and card inserts for labelling. They also have a wrap-over bar design to protect fingers and are available in different colours in v-base or square base styles. Vertical suspension files have an open top for easy inserting and removing documents and have special hooks on both ends so that they can be fitted onto runners in desk filing drawers, filing cabinets, filing cupboards and filing trolleys. Such system allows placing multiple suspension files on the same runners which reduces the amount of space required for storing files. Some cabinets are adapted to accept both types of file, although this is not the norm. All of our filing cabinets specify in the description which file size they will accept. File cribs or lateral filing rails can be fitted to some standard metal office cabinets to allow you to store files within a “normal” cabinet. A lateral filing rail will fit within the cabinet and you will need to allow space above to access the files without removing them from the cabinet while a file crib will pull-out to allow access.
