About this deal

Since 2017, self-heating hotpot meals have become somewhat of a trend in China and beyond. These ‘hotpot’ meals heat themselves due to a chemical reaction. When the water is poured over the heater pad, the heater releases enough heat to warm up a pre-cooked meal 100 degrees in approximately 10 minutes. Nevertheless, the product is somewhat disappointing because of what we know about the Haidilao brand and how tasty it really is. This comes nowhere near to the hotpot quality of the Haidilao chain. The ingredients, obviously, aren’t fresh, which also makes them taste somewhat bland. The Heating Bags for heating purposes only. DO NOT consume it. The bag contains chemicals. All in all, trying out the self-heating hotpot is a fun experience in itself. Personally, I favor the self-heating hotpot brand that I tried out here, but Haidilao is not a bad option. Of course, there’s nothing better than actually going to a Haidilao hotpot restaurant, or to make your own hotpot at home. All you need to prepare this hotpot is cold water, nothing more. This makes the ‘self heating’ hotpot popular among travelers, students, and office workers. Self-heating cans have dual chambers, one surrounding the other. In one version, the inner chamber holds the food or drink, and the outer chamber houses chemicals which undergo an exothermic reaction when combined. When the user wants to heat the contents of the can, a ring on the can—when pulled—breaks the barrier which keeps the chemicals in the outer chamber apart from the water. In another type, the chemicals are in the inner chamber and the beverage surrounds it in the outer chamber. To heat the contents of the can, the user pushes on the bottom of the can to break the barrier separating the chemical from the water. This design has the advantages of being more efficient (less heat is lost to the surrounding air) as well as reducing excessive heating of the product's exterior, causing possible discomfort to the user. In either case, after the heat from the reaction has been absorbed by the food, the user can enjoy a hot meal or drink.

Self-heating functionality can be used in more food and drink products and offer an enhanced consumer experience, which is comparable to what consumers can have in foodservice outlets. For instance, a self-heating pastry can be served at the optimal temperature to make it taste and smell as though it is fresh from the oven. The dessert can be consumed at the temperature it would be served in the restaurant.
