About this deal

Original article [Sun 15th Oct, 2023 15:00 BST]: First 4 Figures recently shared a "sneak peek" of its absolutely stunning Metroid Prime 'Samus Varia Suit' PVC statue. The Zero Suit was first seen in Metroid: Zero Mission, ending sequences of Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime Hunters, and is making an appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Don't put Adam on a pedestal, just for a ridiculous sacrifice that didn't need to be. So he killed the experimented Metroids made by Feds, well a lot that did when there's a bloody Metroid Queen else where. I very strongly considered panel-lining all the details the way I did with my Other M Figma, but ultimately decided to leave it untarnished for now. I’m afraid of the panel lining being too stark and changing the look too much, since I like it so much as it is.

The statue is heavy and extremely well made. I give massive props to the QC team on this one. The statue looks amazing as is, but with the added electronics on the EX version, it really takes it to the next level. The way they've designed the base to transmit power to the DC connector on the foot, then through the statue and once again to another DC power connector on the right arm, where the cannon slips into place, is really clever! The beam effects that came with the Other M version had game-accurate long pink pellets ( I painted mine though, which is why they’re transparent blue and magenta here) – which were true to that version’s armor alone, not this one. Some very cool bits of extra ingenuity that allow for more movement include articulated flaps at the hips and stomach armor that retracts in to allow for a significant degree of torso bending. The underside of the arm cannon is almost hyper-detailed compared to the rest of the figure. This is accurate though. First 4 Figures is happy to present a new series of Metroid Master Arts statues, starting with the Master Arts Metroid Prime 2 Light Suit. Samus is holding her arm cannon up, ready to fire as she storms the Sky Temple to defeat the Emperor Ing. She’s been rendered at a jaw-dropping 1/4 scale to encapsulate immense power that the Light Suit holds. She towers at 20 inches tall. The white of Samus' armour has a lovely gloss and shine to it and just radiates quality workmanship (most pieces from other statue makers look dull, dusty and matte). With its sleek design and resistance to the elements of Dark Aether, the Light Suit was one of the most powerful and important tools at Samus’ disposal as she set out on a mission to destroy the Dark Dimension. The suit was powered by the Light of Aether and was the result of both Luminoth and Chozo technology. Some diehard fan over at Nintendo/Max Factory/Good Smile must’ve suggested actual missiles as an accessory, but was fired for being too good for this world and replaced by some chump who then proceeded to throw out the idea that they should instead include a thumbs up hand, which Samus flashes once throughout the entire game – during the final ending game cutscene no less! It isn’t what I’d typically associate with deep, metallic/reflective paint – and while that’s exactly what I’d expect out of Samus’ armor, whatever Max Factory/Good Smile did here still looks perfect in this application. The red on her helmet and chest actually skirt closer to candy red.

Oh right, you get a morph ball too. Don’t get me wrong, I love the morph ball as a power up and I think it’s a timeless upgrade and vital aspect to the Metroid games, but in figure form I discovered long ago that it’s extremely underwhelming. After all, it’s just…a ball. An alternate head part with short hair is also included, allowing you to display the younger Samus. The first 2 units I received had stress fractures throughout the paint on the left half of the chest plate. I've spoken to a number of other owners who also have had this issue, sometimes there are similar fractures in the paint on the cannon, although only one of my samples had this too. And yet despite that feeling, the Figma still looks world-class, which is where that troublesome dissonance is coming from – it looks so good even close-up, but when you hold it, it feels more like a cheap hollow plastic figurine. First 4 Figures is extremely proud to present Samus Aran's Zero Suit, the third collectible statues in First 4 Figures highly anticipated suit series based on Retro Studios Metroid Prime game trilogy. This version is based on the Zero Suit seen at the end of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes.

Whatever your outlook on the controversial Wii title, Figma's latest Nintendo-themed offering should be of interest. Zero Suit Samus is fully poseable and comes with interchangeable components and accessories, including a "thumbs up" hand: You get an optional missile-firing arm cannon tip, three extra left hands, a morph ball…and the standard Figma stand. That’s it. Maybe Samus’ base body was just that much more expensive to produce, but it’s still a tough pill to swallow when TP Link gave us an entire armory. Adam treating her as a child or a liability (despite having a better record than Adam) no wonder she left him before and freelanced, and now he's a jelly little pr***.
