About this deal

I understand that you want to publish fast and that a proper GPU evaluation may be more involved, so I can only hope that will come very soon. This article gathers my first impressions of the 2022 ZenBook S13 series, based on this unit that I’ve had around for the last few weeks. As far as the older U platforms go, the Ryzen 7 5800U (8C/16T), Ryzen 5 5600U (6C/12T), and Ryzen 3 5400U (4C/8T) are part of the Cezanne platform and get Zen3-based processors with 4-8 Cores, HyperThreading, an upgraded memory controller and increased amount of L2+L3 cache memory, faster integrated Radeon Vega graphics, and a multitude of other IPC improvements and optimizations. For this review, we've tested this laptop in two configurations to match our previous test results and allow us to make an apples-to-apples comparison as closely as possible. ISO 22196:2011 specifies a method of evaluating the antibacterial activity of antibacterial-treated plastics, and other non-porous, surfaces of products (including intermediate products).

The average 6800U in our database easily shoulders its way towards the best of the best, trading blows with the Core i7-1270P, the Core i7-11850H and the Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H as far as multi-thread benchmark scores are concerned. Throw everything you can at this little guy. He'll take it all and ask for more. AMD describes the new Ryzen 6000 series as a totally “new connected platform” and some of the features are badly overdue. AMD’s previous Ryzen 4000 and Ryzen 5000 series of CPUs largely outclassed Intel’s older 14nm 9th-gen and 10th-gen CPUs but had some deficiencies such as limited PCIe connectivity. Even though AMD was the first to PCIe 4.0 on desktops, it skipped the feature on its laptop chips and limited the CPU to just eight lanes of PCIe 3.0. With Ryzen 6000, AMD essentially doubles the Ryzen 5000’s GPU connection with support for eight lanes of PCIe 4.0. AMD has also wired in an additional 12 lanes to be used for storage and general plumbing. USB4 finally In 7-Zip Compression the 6800H does see a performance gain compared to its predecessor by 9 percent, so a typical number for a multi-threaded workload like this. Unfortunately for AMD it's not enough to close the gap to Intel, with the 12700H holding a 27 percent performance lead in this short burst test. Based on testing by AMD as of 12/14/2021. CPU performance evaluated Cinebench R23 1T, Cinebench R23 nT, and PCMark® 10 Extended. System configuration for Ryzen™ 7 5800U CPU/GPU performance: HP ProBook 635 Aero G8 configured with 2x8GB DDR4-3200 (22-22-22), Windows® 11 22000.282, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD, 15W nominal processor TDP, GPU driver 27.20.21026, BIOS T83. System configuration for Ryzen™ 7 6800U CPU/GPU performance: AMD reference motherboard configured with 4x4GB LPDDR5-6400 (19-15-17), Windows® 11 22000.282, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD, 28W nominal processor TDP, GPU driver 30.0, BIOS TRM0081D. PCMARK is a registered trademark of Futuremark Corporation. – RMB-16 When it comes to actually buying a laptop, all else being equal, we'd choose a Core i7-12700H laptop over a Ryzen 7 6800H laptop. There aren't that many 6800H laptops to talk about right now either, especially relative to the wealth of 12700H models, and those that do exist seem to be using mostly lower-tier GPUs.

We're fans of the ROG Strix G15 and it seems this year's model doesn't compromise on performance either. You can configure the Ryzen 7 6800H to run as high as 90W if you want to, in addition to that 115W GPU limit, though power balancing will occur if you try and run a heavy CPU and GPU task at the same time.

Thanks to its decent cooling solution and a long-term CPU power limit of more than 20 W, the Mercury EM680 is among the fastest systems built around the 6800U that we know of. It can be at least 20% faster in CPU-bound workloads than the slowest system featuring the same chip in our database, as of August 2023. GPD Win 4 2023 refresh announced with AMD Ryzen 7040U APUs and OcuLink port » GPD Win 4 is fast, but it's as loud as many gaming laptops This section includes previous-gen models built on the AMD Rembrandt Ryzen 76800U hardware platform. The end result is that the Core i7-12700H beats the Ryzen 7 6800H in most workloads. The margin can be narrow in some multi-threaded benchmarks, but on the whole the 12700H is on average 15 to 20 percent faster. And that's just at 45W. Up to 75% lower latency” is based on Intel simulation data of 802.11ax with and without OFDMA using 9 clients. Average latency without OFDM is 36 ms, with OFDMA average latency is reduced to 7.6 ms. Latency improvement requires that the AP and all clients support OFDMA.It's especially interesting because it will offer some hints on what will be possible in terms of graphics with the next generation APUs based on Zen4 but a similar iGPU design. ASUS Antibacterial Guard protection is applied to both the keyboard and palm-rest area. The touchpad area is not treated with ASUS Antibacterial Guard. When I used the laptop, I felt that the laptop was a bit warm to the touch. That’s not in a way that would burn my fingers or even stop me from using it, but more noticeable than on some other laptops I've used. Some of these are also available with the higher-tier Ryzen 9 processors. Some of these also have a MUX, which makes a big difference in games. With SmartShift Max, it’s now also aggressive about shifting power to the CPU, too. AMD officials said they’ve found that a surprising number of games that are less graphically intensive can benefit from pushing the CPU harder.

AMD also announced an upgrade to the award-winning AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series desktop processors, delivering the first AMD Ryzen processors with AMD 3D V-Cache™ technology to power incredible gaming experiences. Powered by the “Zen 3” core architecture, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D desktop processor is the world’s fastest gaming processer, delivering an average of 5% faster 1080p gaming across select titles than the competition. 1 Product Specification: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D It also includes a detailed list of all the devices built on Ryzen 6000 and older hardware platforms, both those already announced and launched, as well as those rumored to be unveiled in the near future. AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX and Ryzen 7 7840HS/7735HS specs sheets Acer’s partnership with AMD allows us to continue to push boundaries for gamers,” said James Lin, General Manger, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. “Powering our systems with the latest processor technologies enhances the gameplay experience by giving customers the performance they need to play – and win.”The 6000 U series processors were teased then, even though their availability in laptops would come later than those H series chips revealed alongside them. You’ll also note some 5000 U series chips in there, included because they are among the CPUs you’ll find in AMD laptops in 2022. They're of course not part of the latest 6000 series, as they use a previous-generation processor architecture (more on that below).

Well APUs aren't just about gaming, a message that AMD has been trying to push out for a long time, even if HSA remains a sad and unfullfilled promise still. The latest update of this article provides a detailed list of all the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U, Ryzen 7 7735U, Ryzen 7 7730U, and Ryzen 7 6800U laptops available in stores as of the second part of 2023, and explains the specs and performance of these existing AMD Ryzen 7000 U platforms, as well as of the previous-gen Ryzen 6000 and 5000 mobile hardware. Note: We haven’t yet tested any of the Ryzen U 7000 platforms. I’m updating this section in the future, as we get to review the Ryzen 77840U, Ryzen 7 7735U and Ryzen 7 7730U processors. Update: Our full review of the ZenBook S 13 UM5302 series – Ryzen 7 6800U model – is available here. Over here you’ll also find our review of the convertible ZenBook S 13 Flip model. And here’s our review of the 2023 ZenBook S 13 UX5304 update.I have hardware from all these generations. E.g. a Kaveri A10-7850K with 512 SMs that required optimal DDR3-2400 DIMMs to benefit and did only marginally better than the 384 SM variant because it was starved for bandwidth.
