About this deal

Pokemon has revealed several new cards from Paradigm Trigger! The set releases in Japan on October 21st and will feature 98 cards (excluding secret rares). A majority of these cards will then be featured in our S12 set Silver Tempest, with the rest likely being saved for our 2023 SWSH Special Set. Thanks goes to Bangiras and JustInBasil for the translations! Along with Regieleki, Regidrago is the only Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII that is not prevented from being Shiny in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Regidrago ( Japanese: レジドラゴ Regidorago) is a Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII, with The Crown Tundra. C][C] Wrap: 30 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy from your opponent’s Active Pokémon. Note: Shadow Dragonite, Shadow Latios, and Shadow Gardevoir outperform all the top counters except for the Megas and Primal Groudon. Shadow Weavile, Shadow Mewtwo, Shadow Latias, and Shadow Salamence all perform on par with the top counters. More details

The five Legendary giants may collectively be themed after historical epochs, with Regidrago representing the Middle Ages, a period known for its legends of dragons. Alternatively, Regidrago may represent the Mesozoic, the era when dinosaurs walked the Earth which is also known as the Age of Reptiles. Regidrago's being the remnants of an ancient dragon or crystalized dragon energy may be a vague reference to fossil fuels.

Regidrago also seems to be based on a dragon head and a crystal ball or a pearl held by an Asian dragon.

Clearly has a niche, and nothing outclasses relicanth in that niche, but the format doesn’t posses the need for relicanth. 1/5Below I will analyze all five lists of Regidrago VSTAR, but the same Dragon-type Pokémon will be used in practically all of them, which are Duraludon VMAX, Giratina VSTAR, Garchomp V, Hisuian Goodra VSTAR, and depending on the variant, Dragonite. These are by far the best options we have in the format right now, and they work consistently. Other options like Flygon V, Flapple, and Appletun can be good, but they are situational and sometimes insufficient even in the matchup that should be good. Another important point is not to exaggerate the number of options for Regidrago VSTAR, as with each new option you put on the list, one more consistency card will probably have to be removed. About four to six Pokémon options is a good amount to play, more or less than that and you can already have problems discarding Pokémon, or consistency issues due to having too many Pokémon.
