About this deal

The battery takes 150 minutes to recharge, which again is up there with the best. You can buy an extra battery if you want to double up on cleaning time, but considering we never ran out of juice, we don’t believe it’s necessary for any home with four-five bedrooms or less. If you’re looking for a straightforward cylinder vacuum that won’t let you down, the Henry is a great choice for carpets and hard floors. While it can be unwieldy to use on stairs and doesn’t have many advanced features, it has excellent filtration, strong suction power and provides great value.

As the name suggests, the Henry Xtra is just like the regular Henry but a little bit more. He comes with a host of different accessories and features which means he can cope with just about any job going. However, while it’s designed for the wet, this also excels in the dry. An impressive 15 litre storage capacity when dry makes it an ideal option for professional cleaners, but it is also light at only 7.1kgs and will be easy to get around the home. Since its original launch in the 1980s, the Henry vacuum range has been a staple of homes and offices. But as the range grows, which one is best for you? The cherry on top is that it is an energy class A. Plus the Airobrush and the extra attachment for hard floors.

What else should I know about the Henry Vacuum Cleaner Range?

It can clean wet spills, dry dust, scrub carpets, and clean upholstery. Essentially it is a 4-in-1 carpet cleaner and vacuum. Part of the reason for this power is that Henry doesn’t have any motorised tools for agitating dirt. Instead, it relies on good old-fashioned suction power to pull dirt out of carpets and off hard floors. Henry have a vacuum cleaner for everyone! You need the Henry Micro. This nifty little number uses a MicroTex Filtration System to ensure that even the smallest particles are whipped out of the fibres of your flooring. I want a Henry vacuum that does everything… is there one? This model of Numatic Henry comes with the same wand that features on older models; it’s a series of three metal poles that connect together. The curved section has an air vent on it, too, which is used to decrease suction power – the vacuum cleaner has just an on/off switch. The Hetty is not as bulky as you think (or at least as I thought prior to purchasing one). In fact, I found it easy to store in a number of different places in my home, which was something I was concerned about because we are very limited on space. Once the wand was removed, I was able to slot it into a wardrobe, under the stairs, and on top of a washing machine.

The extension wand is more difficult to store due to its length. I was able to find a nook behind our washing machine where it was hidden out of sight, but if push comes to shove and you are really short on room, you can disassemble and reassemble it each time, but this would end up being quite a chore. Our Verdict Detailed below are what you should look for – or what you should ask yourself – before you buy your Henry vacuum cleaner. Dust Bin CapacityWhen the time does come to change it, it couldn’t be simpler. All you have to do is push two clips on the side of the machine outwards and then lift off the head of the machine (which contains the motor), remove the filter, and then replace the bag with a fresh one. The old one should then be discarded in your wheelie bin. The vacuum comes with 26 pods, which is sufficient to last roughly a year, and they’re made from 60% recycled material. Numatic also says it has put carbon offsetting measures in place to ensure its pods are climate-positive, reducing its carbon impact globally. However, the dirt-filled pods will go in your normal household waste and, ultimately, to landfill – so there is a moral conundrum of convenience versus clear eco-conscience to consider. Carbon offsetting is admirable, but not creating pollution in the first place is better. However, this is not a high-end machine, and it does require a little elbow grease to get good results. The attachments really are well designed, and as long as you are able to swap between them as you move around your home, you’ll be very pleased with the results. The battery life ranges from 14 minutes in high power with the brush on, to 70 minutes in low power with the brush off, which is about the best you can expect from a cordless vacuum of this size.

As I moved through different rooms, I tended to tug the Hetty behind me using the hose, which must be why Numatic has made it very tough and sturdy (they claim it is crush-proof). The wheels on the bottom feel smooth, and I barely felt any of the 7.5kg of weight as I moved around, with Hetty trundling behind me. Something that I noticed is that the Hetty has a rubber buffer ring around its circumference to prevent any damage to either the machine or your furniture or doorways as you pull it along (in a similar fashion to a bumper car), so I was confident that it wouldn’t get damaged. Speaking of the upholstery brush, this is the attachment that is best suited for cleaning chairs, sofas, car seats, and stairs. Basically, anything that has a pretty flat surface that is too small to use the main floor tool should be vacuumed using the upholstery brush. I found it really effective on the stairs, as the bristles are great at agitating the dust and dirt whilst also reaching the very corner of the steps. Upholstery Brush Before and After Most of these machines have only one or two controls. An off/on switch and the cord winder. They may have a high/low setting (like the traditional Henry) and they may have a wet/dry setting (like the George). Finally, the Xtra can switch between hard floors and carpets as a special feature. Storage We found we could easily vacuum a four-bedroom home from top to bottom in a single charge, with power to spare (there are four power levels indicated by LEDs and we never bled out before we were done). Admittedly, this was achieved by using low power on the hard floors (wood and tile) and low-pile bedroom carpets, switching up to high power only for a couple of rugs and the odd dog-hair strewn sofa. Harry is a lot like his older brother Henry except he’s been design specifically for pet lovers. So, if you have a few four-legged friends running around this could be for you.

FAQ’s about the Henry Vacuum Range

The SprayMop is like Henry and Hetty, born of the professional market, used extensively for spot cleaning and maintenance in hotels, restaurants, shops and offices and the like, where cleanliness and looking well cared for is all important! Aside from the motor and EcoBrush, the Henry Eco has similar features to many Henry vacuums. These include a six-litre capacity, bagged design, and a wide cleaning radius. It also comes with Numatic’s standard combi head for carpets and hard floors. These vacuums were originally British made exclusively, but now they have manufacturing plants all over the world. Demand grew and the Henry crossed the sea. They are a thoroughly British vacuum cleaner. Where Can I Buy Henry Vacuum Range Bags? The bigger the capacity of the vacuum cleaner, the more dust and dirt it can hold. With the likes of the Hetty Vacuum model, the capacity of the bag is higher than the capacity of the vacuum. This means you are unlikely to ever burst a bag by overfilling it. A good tip for those looking to save cash.

If you want the no-nonsense design of a Henry vacuum combined with the convenience of cordless, the HVB160 is an option to consider. It’s more expensive than the corded Henry and doesn’t have the longest run-time, but the strong suction and large capacity mean it’s much better suited to heavy cleaning than most cordless models. Some people prefer the ability to wind the cable in and James allows you to do that. He also has a caddy in which he can nicely store away and attachments. A plugged cable means it is pretty easy to replace the mains cable.
