About this deal

Once you are confident that all the planaria are dead, there is just one final thing to do. Grab a good gravel vac and remove as many of the dead bodies as possible. Follow up with a water change.

I have some "No Planaria" and wanted to know if anyone has used this product lately? My tank is a Fluval Spec V, so approximately 5 gallons. The tank contains Adults (some berried), juveniles and babies. I am worried about the younger shrimp and the berried females but I just saw a hydra floating in the water column so who knows how many are in their now. The other day I saw them in my filter chamber as well. To make things more confusing, some types of planaria can change color according to what they eat. Colored flakes, for instance, can turn a planarian a lovely shade of pink. I’d suggest at least an Aquascaper 900 for a group, and even then, careful selection/management might be needed) Both types are carnivorous. They can eat living or dead animal matter. That is why for aquarists there is no big difference between these two types of planaria. What Causes the Planaria in the Aquarium.

Planaria is notoriously difficult to remove from your aquarium. If you miss a single flatworm, it will multiply into many. The hydrogen peroxide had a positive effect on the tank. It eliminated hair algae on my most after the first attempt and initially seemed to have cleared the hydra from the glass. Shrimp seemed happy (super happy in fact during the treatment), but didn't do anything to the worms or other critters. Some people even say that brown planaria also have a high resistance to fenbendazole (even if you use 2-3 time more doses). While it kills white planaria without any problem. Some More Facts about Planaria Then take a needle and poke a few small holes at the bottom. Four holes are more than enough but you can do more if you want. Make sure the holes are very small. Because planaria can easily fit in almost everywhere. a) Panancur-C (fenbendazole canine dewormer) is safe and effective from what I've read online, but is a controlled drug here in Singapore and so only available on prescription from vets. To cut a long story short, they needed me to take a fish to them so they could take a stool sample to test and would then orally dose the fish with the medication there and then. Gave up trying to explain....

So my question is since I can’t tell if it’s Planaria or not, should I be too concerned for now? Will they hurt my fry? I saw in your comments that dewormer might be too harsh for fry so I am going to skip it if for now, but I am worried my fry will be hurt. An unusually dirty tank will harbour hundreds and they can prove problematic in some aquascapes where solid wastes aren’t always as readily removed as in fish-heavy systems. Most pest snails are hermaphroditic (for example, Malaysian Trumpet Snails, Bladder snails, Small Pond Snails, and Pond snails (read my guides about them)). It means that they have both male and female reproductive organs. It also means that one snail can be enough to start an infestation. When it comes to their removal I would always go with creating my own worm trap over using dewormers. First day: my tank is 10 gal, with quite a lot of plants and hardscape, so I dosed for 8 gallons of water, or 60% of a scoop (.7g), which ended up being about .4 grams Started falling into a coma. Once you return them into clear water, they come to life in a couple of hours.
