About this deal

With a handle measuring 182 cm, this rake should be suitable for most gardeners. Unlike others on the market, there’s no way to make the handle either shorter or longer. Shorter users may find the handle is a little too long to use comfortably. Look for rake heads made of tempered steel as that has enough strength to break up clumped and hard soil. None of the models I reviewed claimed to have the head made of this material. The handle length is proportionate to the size of the rake head. The handle is in sections and its height/length is adjustable to 115cm and 150cm. As with all handles that are in sections, this weakens the stability of the handle a bit. Some online reviewers state that the handle is a bit flimsy. But you can always strengthen it by wrapping tape around the joins in the pole. Rough and uneven patches can be eliminated by using a lawn levelling rake, a tool used to smooth uneven surfaces. Levelling the garden with a lawn levelling rake can prevent waterlogging, remove stones and make your lawn a lot easier to maintain. I did a lot of searching around the internet and although I found a lot of DIY solutions there weren't any that I was super happy with so I decided to make my own with inspiration from different sources.

The Allett Lawn Lute is the ultimate weapon for seeding, turfing or applying a pristine top dressing to your lawn during Spring and Autumn. A handle pivoting clevis connection allows the handle to lie flat which gives maximum reach while leaving the lute frame flat on the lawn surface. This also gives a flat-against-the-wall profile when hanging on the wall for storage. And for extra comfort, the handle has an ergonomic soft grip at the end. This stops your hand from becoming blistered or calloused with all the raking you do. This is one of the lighter weight lawn levellers at 3kg. This helps with the ergonomics of the unit as does the soft rubber grip on the handle. Taking all this together, your lawn levelling experience should be a comfortable one. Pros

While metal handles can often get cold and uncomfortable, this levelling rake comes with an effort-saving handle and extendable rubber grip. The grip will keep you comfortable for long periods of time, while it won’t get slippery if you sweat (and, let’s face it, lawn levelling can be tough work!). The Landzie Lawn Levelling Rake Tool is the best heavy duty levelling tool. This lawn leveller has a head measuring 91 x 30 cm which makes it perfect for larger areas of lawn. It can cover a big area in fewer passes than those with smaller heads. Having said that, a heavy tool will be more difficult for some people to use. Ideally, you need a rake with enough weight to do the job, without being difficult to manage. Our popular Lawn Leveling Rake 92cm is regularly used by landscapers and greenskeepers, indicating that it is highly regarded by these industry professionals.

Overall – the advice is to go for the widest you dare for best levelling effect which is the primary objective for acquiring a Lawn Lute. It’s easy to assemble and take apart this levelling rake. You can store the rake as it is or in its individual components depending on how much storage space you have with the rest of your garden tools. Pros Levelling Lawn Tools provide manoeuvrability, mobility, and functionality making any job time and labour saving. The SurmountWay Lawn Levelling Rake is the best lawn leveller overall thanks to its range of levelling head sizes and handle lengths. If you’ve got a smaller lawn, opt for the 43 x 25 cm lawn head. Standard garden rakes are designed for moving soil, but not levelling it . They break up and move clods of dirt and soil. While they can smooth out a bumpy flower bed, they won’t do much to level a lawn. They are more multipurpose than levelling rakes, so for this reason most gardeners choose to have both a garden rake and a levelling rake in their tool kit. A level lawn will ensure plants get the same amount of water and nutrients, while lumps can leave some parts of your lawn wanting more.
