About this deal

LanoShield is a natural, environmentally friendly product that provides long lasting corrosion protection and lubrication properties to an endless variety of marine, agricultural, automotive, commercial, industrial, electrical and many more uses. Versatility: Lanolin-based greases can be used on various metal surfaces, making them versatile for protecting different parts of a vehicle. They can be applied to areas prone to rust, such as undercarriages, chassis, wheel wells, hinges, and exposed metal components. Additionally, lanolin-based greases can be used in combination with other rust protection measures, such as coatings or films, to provide additional layers of defense against corrosion.

Having grown up on a farm, the founder of Lanoguard, knew the many benefits and potential of Lanolin if enhanced and blended to suit needs, as such we have spent the last many years since, perfecting our products to help to make your life easier and save you money. Fluid film, was surprisingly good on both pre-rusted metal and clean metal. It seems to stop rust progression no matter the state of the metal at the start. It's 12 years old, and as expected, it already had areas of surface rust in places so I started by jet washing the whole underneath as best I could at our local industrial pressure washer on a day when the roads were dry. If I had done this when I originally repainted the axles they would look like new. As it is the Lanoguard appears to have taken the edge of the angry rust that is starting to break through.

Safety

In summary, I'm impressed, easy to apply, goes a very long way, just got to wait until over this winter to see how it goes. I love how easy it was and how the spray liquid got into all the bits I wanted. Later drying to a waxy/dry oil type finish. For commercial use e.g. lathes, chain, farm machinery, aquaculture etc. our tip is to use a little as it goes a long way. Brushing is one method but others include: First time using this product so was interested to see how it worked. Previously used Waxoyl to reasonable effect but this can be difficult to apply unless using the aerosol version. We first came across lanolin products for rust and corrosion protection when we were researching new nano coatings at some of the world’s leading marine trade shows to protect the fittings on the boat trailers that we sell.

We were looking for new chemical and electrolytic “nano” coatings which we did not succeed in finding – despite some claims which turned out not to be supported by evidence. We did however find a solution in lanolin – a by-product of processing sheep’s wool for use in finished woollen products. The lanolin is the natural grease that keeps sheep dry and warm here in the harsh British weather and can be put to good use keeping our trailers and other equipment waterproof and resistant to rust and corrosion. Firstly, lanolin has a natural affinity to ferrous (and many non-ferrous) metals. This means that it works its way to the base metal and bonds to it, including that underneath rust! – which is why, unlike many conventional products, Lanoguard can be sprayed onto surface rust with no issues and doesn't require a highly prepped and keyed up surface. The lanolin will be attracted to the metal underneath and slowly push off any existing rust.Did my 850 with Lanoguard last April and it is still fine, they recommend once a year application but as the 850 is not an every day car and kept garaged I will be doing every two or maybe even three years. The grease is used to cover the threads of bolts etc. that are exposed to the elements underneath the car, I can imaging the joy of repairing a 15 year old car that has been Lanoguard treated and everything unbolts without breaking or stripping threads. These days, I nearly always use nitrile "mechanics" gloves when working on cars. Orange colour with diamond pattern grips on palms and fingers. Almost identical to the gloves Edd China invariably uses.) So how does a lanolin base compare to others? Most conventional rust proofing products are made from an oil, wax or grease base which are typically petroleum in nature. A common downside to these bases is that it is often perishing to any materials that aren’t metallic, such as rubber. A lanolin base can be used on rubbers, plastics and metals without any issue (meaning when using products like Lanoguard no masking up is needed).

Be assured this was not an easy decision for us to make, and we've worked hard to keep this as good value as possible for you. As you know, we are dedicated to ensuring we always use the best quality raw materials, all UK sourced and made by our hardworking team in Sussex. Rather than compromise on product quality we have chosen to make a small marginal increase to selling price to make sure you always get the very high quality, industrial grade protection your vehicles deserve. I use Bilt Hamber aerosols for in-cavities as it creeps really well into seams and you don't need to clean the spray gun. Ashton Marine Services are taking LanoShield the long lasting eco-friendly anti-corrosion ant-seize grease and sprays to Boatlife at the NEC 16th-19th of Feb. Not only that but its key features allow Lanoguard's uses to be almost endless, just see the list below....Many parts of cars are prone to rust and so common areas to use LanoShield are on all bolts and nuts, bulkheads etc. As with trailers we have found the easiest way to apply this is by using a small brush and remember to cover the thread on the bolts as well as all nuts. It can also be applied to your car battery terminals to stop corrosion This entirely natural purified wool grease has a lot of uses and comes in various sizes from single trailer 250ml tubs and sprays to 192Kg drums Did the complete van, rear to front, including taking out the head lights to do the inner wings, inside chassis rails as best I could, and what I considered covering everywhere excessively and had only used half of the quantity! Waterproof and great for protecting electrical fittings including circuit boards, switch panels etc.

We believed that there had to be a better way and, working with leading UK chemists, we have developed a product with a 100% sustainable base of oil from a widely sown crop. So unlike the other products, LanoShield is 100% sustainable and derived from renewable resources. Unlike a lot of other lanolin products we wanted ours to have no petroleum base added (works as a softener) so we use a widely grown seed oil. This means that LanoShield uses 100% renewable resources.I also warmed up the supplied grease in the water too, and applied that around the seams of the sills etc before coating over with the lanoguard. Underside of my land Cruiser had just been renovated with rust removal, paint and Upol stonechip so rust coverage was not a problem. Yes, it can be a little messy but every type of water repellent is messy. If you want full coverage, then you have to get into all the nooks and crannies. The other thing I would recommend is remove your wheels and put the car up on axle stands, it makes it easier to get at and you don’t end up with Lanoguard all over the inside walls of your tyres. Product covers extremely well and dries to a matt finish. I would definitely recommend that the product is warmed first as it aids atomisation, especially with using the lance.
