About this deal

Applied can coat at the weekend . Full paint cleanse and machine polish . I used Bilt hamber paint cleanser. Not sure if I should have splashed out on Gyeon prep. Anyway I then applied can coat . left 2 hrs and applied second coat . You should apply Gyeon Q² CanCoat in a dry place out of direct sunlight. In all cases, prepare the surfaces you are going to treat in the normal way (wash > decontaminate > polish), and then do a wipe down with Gyeon Q²M Prep to ensure that they are spotlessly clean. For best results, spray Gyeon Q² CanCoat on to either the supplied microfibre towel or a PB Super Buffing Towel and immediately wipe it over a single panel to spread a thin, even film of product. Then refold the towel and continue buffing to fully remove the film and reveal an intense streak-free shine. Alternatively, mist a Meguiar's Even Coat Microfiber Applicator Pad with Gyeon Q² CanCoat and wipe a thin, even film of product over a single panel at a time before buffing off with either the supplied microfibre towel or a PB Super Buffing Towel. Either way, you should aim to complete all of the buffing off within 1-2 minutes, i.e. before the coating begins to harden.

Developed over the course of two years by some of the world's leading car care experts, Q2 Cancoat EVO also offers an easier wipe-off process, and improved flexibility for the conditions in which it can be applied. Like the other coatings in the EVO lineup, it can be applied outdoors, making this a great option for driveway detailers and mobile detailers around the world. In situations where it's not practical or possible to leave the car for 24 hours before applying the coating (which is certainly the case when working outside), then a Prep wipe down becomes strictly necessary (otherwise the coating won't bond properly to still curing SiO2 components). And, as you guessed, this does reduce the benefits of using Primer in the first place (personally I would only ever choose to use Primer when working indoors). Thus, in your case it might be better to use Polish instead, and simply go Polish > Prep > CanCoat (assuming the paint needs minor refinement before the coating is applied - if not then just go with Prep > CanCoat). One thing that is interesting is that CanCoat does indeed harden but it hardens into a white powdered silica which is cool. It can be seen in the sprayer as well. I know many have had issues with the sprayers fail even after rinsing but for me I am still on the original sprayer. I rinse it with hot water and pump hot water through it.

Gyeon claims that Can Coat should be fully cured within 24 hours and it is best to avoid strong chemicals during the first week after application. Can Coat may be topped with Gyeon Cure if you wish. I recommend removing the sprayer from the bottle and cleaning it out with water after each use so you can re-use it. Store the bottle in a cool area with the cap secured in between uses. Shake the Gyeon CanCoat well, take a good quality microfibre cloth and spray the Can Coat into the cloth. Wipe over a section (half a panel) gently ensuring you pass over all the area at least twice to provide even coverage. Take a second good-quality microfibre cloth and wipe off completely. Repeat for all other sections on your car until gleaming. I started applying with a MF applicator and then wipe off with supplied cloth. Not sure if this was putting too much product on or not but found this method difficult when removing. So I then changed to just using the supplied MF to apply. Nice write up Zach. CanCoat is a great product. Probably my favorite protection from the current Gyeon line. That includes Gyeon Syncro which has been underwhelming for me. But that is another story for another time. CanCoat is quite versatile and for me it exceeded the longevity and durability claims which Gyeon claims to be roughly 6-9 months. GYEON do not clarify the circumstances in which it should be used, looking at the above 'each time you wash' would suggest that it is a shampoo for regular use. If you do use it regularly, you can guarantee the car isn't being fully de-contaminated making that contamination harder to remove without polishing (not possible without removing the coating too).

Simply spray onto the attached microfibre and wipe until you achieve full gloss. That is how easy it is to apply Q² CanCoat EVO! Now in its EVO form to provide you with a more durable yet easy to apply SiO2 based coating. For example Cancoat is the most expensive and labor intensive way to coat a car over a set time period of 3 to 5 yrs compared to other using your term, traditional coatings, which for most long lasting durability being one of the primary reasons to coat a car. But this is the part of your articular I take issue with …”with coating qualities close to other traditional coatings” Similar yes but not entirely accurate when all things are considered. So for me the following comparison is an overarching con that casts a shadow on the pros Cancoat offers. We are the UK distributors for GYEON Quartz, who are a formulator and manufacturer of advanced, quartz based protection and maintenance products.Application. Can not be simpler. Spray on the MF towel and wipe on the surface like using a QD, turn the towel to a dry side and remove immediately. Work in the shade. One bad thing IMO is that it does not leave a trace behind (if it does its not very noticible) so without proper lighting you can not tell where you applied it on the surface. Its like layering an invisible layer. You can layer it as much as you want as long as its 1h apart. Bad news is that about 15 hrs after applying it started to rain a little and 24 hrs after the second coat the rain got heavier. I was hoping for 24 hrs without rain to allow it to fully cure.

Q² CanCoat EVO is the easiest coating to apply you will experience. It is also the best value for money product to protect or maintain your ceramic coated car. Its 200ml allows you to coat or re-apply it over 10 to 15 times! Then factor in the hard cost of Gtechniq to Cancoat which some have said required two cans of the aerosol version per car for two coats multiplied by 3 to 5 years vs Gtechniq’s one time expense. No comparison! Gtechniq the better value by far. Gyeon Wet Coat is a “spray and rinse sealant”. You can apply the product according to the following instructions: Method 1 Regular maintenance washes with strong but pH neutral shampoos like CarPro Reset, TAC Mystic Bubble, regular Gyeon Bathe or Bathe EssenceI relation to beeding. I honestly don't think it's any better than wet coat. Maybe I need to apply cure on top........surely the rain would not have washed this off or reduced the hydrophic ability after 15-20 hrs? Even on fully decontaminated cars, after a couple of uses i've found products like this to actually mask the properties of the ceramic coating. Many people take this to mean the coating has 'failed' even though it's still there, albeit buried in layers of Bathe + or WetCoat style products.

Was I expecting too much from the claims of self-cleaning/beading and this is normal for ceramic coatings or did I do something wrong? First off prep work. As with any product its best to apply to a washed, deconed, clayed and polished surface. For polish you can use whatever you like. You can use the Gyeon primer but be aware it needs to cure for 12-24h before you apply Cancoat which is a waste of time in my world. If you want to use a primer product then use Carpro essence (3h cure time) or better yet TAC system primer (1h cure), but really any paint cleanser or abrassive polish will do just fine. CanCoat has always been one of may favorite products. I would go on a limb and often state it was the best coating in the Gyeon line even if was not a full fledged coating. It had a claim of up to 6 months but it consistently exceeded in durability and longevity for me ranging from15-18 months. It is also one of the most versatile coatings as it can be applied to any surface (glass, paint, trim, wheels) as a standalone but also as a maintenance topper after a year or so. It also has some of the best hydrophobic behavior that I have seen and it leaves that glossy appearance. Great product for what it is and it’s intended use as in a one time less labor less hard cost application. It still retains that versatility while making for an excellent choice for a maintenance topper a year down the road on a coating. It works with any coating.Gyeon's CanCoat EVO offers more durable performance, improved visual enhancement, and hydrophobic properties - all thanks to the updated EVO formula. It remains as easy to apply as it used to, now featuring even easier wipe off.
