Besides Thomas’s daily classes and tests there were also some scenes about Thomas building friendships with the Gladers. I enjoyed reading about Thomas building the friendships and how cute and innocent they were as little children. But I don’t understand the purpose of letting them run in the hallways when they weren’t allowed? Was that also a test? I just don’t understand!? But I liked reading about Thomas, Teresa and the others as children. Five year old Thomas and Teresa, cuteeeee. The night before Thomas went up into the Maze, Teresa and Thomas had a heartfelt conversation, in which Teresa pinkie-promised that they would soon be together in the Maze, both memories intact. She also told Thomas that he meant the world to her. They hugged and lay together in Thomas's bed all night long. The finale reconnects with the first book and it's finally explained too how and why Thomas and then Teresa were sent in the Maze. Mark wakes up and the group continues their journey. The Toad joins them the next night, but he has the Flare. He had held Misty until he caught the Flare, then put Misty out of her misery. Alec drags the Toad out into the forest and kills him out of mercy. The whole Maze concept is super cool and this book along with the first one are definetely my favorites, there's so much going on, but it's very easy to understand and follow.
