About this deal

Things to like: Cool, consistent world-building with very versatile power system, great fights with creative power usage and a fun and engaging plot. Super Smoke: Chandra, Ely and Zora can create super-heated smoke, used either to burn people, fly or hide in it. No Name Given: The man with a Noh Mask is only called "the pharmacist", something in relation to his mask or the Nue Choujin. Eventually subverted when he is revealed to be Batista Hoshi, Sandek's brother.

Azuma's Choujin powers allows him to manipulate the iron chains around his wrist to create weapons or an armor. While the dose seemingly has no physical effect on Azuma, Tokio grows a beak. In fear of being seen, Tokio must now figure out how to hide his new identity as a Choujin. But it seems that there are people out there that are angry at Tokio and Azuma's use of the Choujin drug, and they do not seem to want to stay quiet about it.

The fights feel very lively and dynamic, character designs are recognizable, there's really not much to dislike. As of now, I am still unsure if Choujin X will surpass Tokyo Ghoul, but I do think that it has certainly stepped out of the shadow of Ishida's previous work at this point. If it continues in this direction I truly think that Choujin X has the possibility to become Ishida's peak. The way Choujins are more free as a concept rather than Ghouls (i.e. not simply based off RC cells and organs, but rather how the character of who someone is impacts their Choujin form. I see this similar to cursed energy from JJK.) As far as the story so far, this is pretty comfortable territory for Sui Ishida fans, but it's pretty clear that not only is the direction Sui Ishida's taking it radically different, but fundamentally incompatible with the themes and general plotline of Tokyo Ghoul.Over 50 years have passed since the establishment of autonomous regions began within the world's nations, an outcome initiated from the resulting chaos brought about by "Choujin," individuals with supernatural powers. is fun to read for the most part, but it easily shifts tones to be sombre when it needs to be, thought provoking or gut wrenching at times, and the fights are always fluid, dynamic and well thought out. The characters are three dimensional and feel real, acting in a realistic manner for the most part, their actions and decisions feel organic and not just wholly driven by the where the plot needs to go.

The story revolves around Tokio, an unmotivated kid who comfortably exists in the shadow of his talented best friend, Azuma. This all changes when circumstances result in Tokio becoming a choujin, a special being that manifests powers borne out of an individual's own insecurities and Pineda, Rafael Antonio (September 22, 2021). "Choujin X Manga by Tokyo Ghoul's Sui Ishida Gets Serialization in Young Jump on October 14". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on September 22, 2021 . Retrieved September 22, 2021. Pretty mediocre and nothing special so far. I didn't expect Sui Ishida would out-do his masterpiece TG with ease and I was right. The plotline is very predictable and you wouldn't really be surprised by anything. That said, it is Sui Ishida we are talking about, so I'm expecting much more. It's hard to say with this type of thing when there's only one chapter available, but thus far the set up is intruiging whilst also feeling pretty familiar. The basic elevatory pitch is very similar, as many people haveThe pharmacist always wears a Noh Mask to hide his monstruous face, that looks patched together with Too Many Eyes. Choujin X, Vol. 3". Viz Media. Archived from the original on April 28, 2023 . Retrieved April 28, 2023. From the same creative mind that brought us the hit manga series Tokyo Ghoul comes another rather dark outing from creator Sui Ishida. If you were a fan of his previous work, there is certainly a lot to love about Choujin X. On paper, both are fundamentally stories about average (and rather plain) individuals being transformed into creatures beyond their comprehension. They are granted abilities they do not fully understand, leaving them feeling like monstrosities that can no longer adjust to everyday life. They have a best friend who seems to have way more going on than the story initially implies, and there is a strong hint of a larger organization orchestrating events behind the scenes. The powers are more like concepts they can be expanded and the only limit seems to be the user's own creativity leading to every sort of power you can think of being on display, some more typical and some downright weird and surreal. Vibration Manipulation: In top his Super-Scream, Mori can uses vibrations to feel the space around himself. This allows him to know everything that is happening on Beast Island.
