About this deal

All speakers function in a similar manner, but their designs vary from product to product. In essence, the humble speaker has not changed very much in its lifetime. The most commonly used and best active speaker design is the dynamic speaker, which was invented in the early '50s. How Speakers Work At 1.3 x 8.2 x 2.5 inches, it isn’t overly cumbersome despite weighing about one pound. It gives you enough length on its USB and 3.5mm cables to try some different positioning.

The sound is clear and balanced, with a slight bump in the low mids. That is not to say you will hear deep bass frequencies from these 1.5-inch drivers, but it still sounds good even if it doesn’t shake the room. These speakers can achieve a pretty solid max volume, but not without distorting towards the max. The inline volume controls are found on the USB cable. Once your Raspberry Pi reboots, install Pulse Audio with the following command (it may already be installed):Desktops could even be worse because some of them do not even have built-in speakers to start with. In both cases, what you need is a good USB powered speaker. Just hook it up to your computer and you're good to go. At the front panel of the right speaker, you have three buttons that control the volume. The one in the middle mutes the speaker while the other two reduce and increase it. There's no power button or switch.

The frequency response is 180Hz-20KHz, which means the low end is a little rounded off. The mids and highs, however, come through clearly. Size: As is obvious to anyone who’s ever had more than a passing interest in high-end audio, speakers come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. And outside of hi-fi focused options that require a separate amplifier for power, there are also several powered bookshelf speakers that function much like PC speakers, in the sense that you can just plug them into an outlet and then into your PC (or connect wirelessly over Bluetooth). If you’re looking to replicate the immersiveness of home theater audio, you’re probably looking for a 5.1 (or higher) surround sound setup. Just know that these speaker sets tend to be expensive, and you may have to do some creative speaker placement and wire routing to keep your PC from looking like some kind of low-budget Spider-Man movie set. The Edifier R19U 2.0 USB computer speakers produce a well-balanced, crystal-clear sound with no interference or degradation in quality. In addition, they are tilted 10 degrees to improve sound quality and reduce reflections off your desktop. As a result, the speakers produce a rich, balanced sound with clear highs and mids. What’s more, they have a decent bass even without a subwoofer. You need to consider how much space you have for your speaker system and find a set with a suitable footprint. The last thing you need is a huge speaker system dominating a tiny space when you can get a much smaller option for half the price that will still sound amazing. Bluetooth: Bluetooth speakers are a category all on their own, and they’re not very well-suited to acting as desktop PC speakers (nor are they very economical if you don’t need the portability). Bluetooth isn’t a necessity in PC speakers, but the added versatility can be a bonus — especially if you frequently switch between systems and/or devices. All speakers require power to run. Without electricity flowing into the drivers, a speaker is just a box with some weird paper and metal bits in it. The vast majority of computer speakers, along with all Bluetooth and wireless models, are powered, or "active." That means a built-in amplifier takes the signal it receives and feeds enough power into the drivers to reproduce it. This is handy because it means you don't need to get a separate amp to drive your speakers; you just plug them into your computer and they work. But as these bookshelf speakers often stand close to a foot tall and are several inches wide and deep, they don’t make ideal desktop speakers for most people. They also tend to pump out more sound than is comfortable for most people when sitting right in front of you. They can, however, be a good option for impressive PC audio if placed behind out – on, say, a bookshelf. This speaker solves the placement problems that I identified in other soundbars by clipping onto the top of your screen like a clothespin.
