Though I had some issues with it, a lot of that came down to personal preference, and I would definitely recommend this, as it had minimal language and was such an unexpectedly delightful read. A highly entertaining and readable romcom featuring all your favourite tropes: fake dating, friends to lovers, love triangles and plenty of pining. Rich, warm and humourous, with realistic teen characters and friendships at its heart. Zara is a big romance fan and reading and discussing films with her friends, but she and her best friend Adnan are getting heat from their parents who are desperate for them to get together. Then suddenly they have to pretend to to protect Adnan’s new girlfriend from family issues. As Zara and Adnan grow closer, is there a point at which they should try to give love an actual chance? most of all, I fell in love with myself. I embraced that I am who I am, no excuses, and I realised that I don’t need to cater to what everyone else wants for me. I can still be loved by those around me while doing what I want’.

So much of the drama here could have been avoided if people talked. I’m not convinced anyone in real life makes things that complicated. However, the story wouldn’t have been as entertaining! The friendship turning into a fake-dating scheme between Zara and Adnan was absolutely LOVELY, from beginning to end. It’s cristal clear how close they are, how much they know and care for each other. I loved loved LOVED their bond, their banter and everything else about them.
