About this deal

Lighter and Softer: The Dragons of Wayward Crescent spin-off series, focusing on the dragons themselves, is written for very young readers. Our Dragons Are Different: Arguably one of the most extreme examples of this trope in fictional history. Trilogy Creep: The first three books form a definite trilogy, with a complete story, and a very definite ending. The rest do continue it, but begin a new story arc altogether.

The main character is a 20 yr old guy who spends way too much time hanging out with his tenants 11 yr old daughter, but there's probably nothing weird going on as he come off as extremely dull and slow, not to mention he still sleeps with his teddy bear while his tenant sings him dragon lullabies.Chris D’Lacey is an English author that was born in 1954 in Valletta, Malta, though it was in places like Leicester and Bolton that he grew up. A former student of the University of York from where he studied biology, Chris started out as a songwriter. The author knows his dragons. The dragon scenes are good. But there's also a really compelling story about the human side of things. The writing is great, and, while it isn't incredibly detailed, it easily puts you in the scene. The story actually focuses more on the human character of Ren rather than the dragons. The ending was satisfying and unexpected (at least for me, anyway), and the book didn't feel like it dragged on at times. In later books we find that David is really a world travellor with a mission to help ressurect the dragons on earth. He enlists the help of the Pennykettles, their neighbor Henry and his girlfriend- sometimes without their permission. I reserve the toilet paper rating for the real stinkers, and congratulations d'Lacey, you've won a spot on my rarefied 1-star review list. My daughter, who has the discerning reading taste of a nine-year-old, said she would rate it two stars, citing the squirrels and the botched sad moments, which she thinks may be related to the fact that normal people don't hold squirrel memorials. Is David's power strong enough to protect an entire world, including those he loves and all the dragons, from an evil older than time?

Dr. Bergstrom – A geography teacher at Scrubbley College. He is Scandinavian, can turn into a polar bear, and has a dragon called Groyne who can become invisible and shape-shift. He started out as a polar research scientist and met the spirit of Thoran, the first polar bear ever. People believed he was killed, but he actually became a mixture of man and polar bear. You also get to meet Elizabeth Pennykettle the woman, who he is staying with, well he is her tenant, and her eleven-year-old daughter, Lucy. Those are the three characters who get to take you on this fantasy adventure at the beginning. Strange Figurines

This is a charming little story. It has surprisingly low stakes for a book about living dragon statues. Honestly, take out the dragons and you still have a solid contemporary story about saving an injured squirrel from the perils of suburban living. It's a fun, fast-paced story that you can easily breeze through, and it's got some real heart. There are some moments of genuine emotion, some surprising twists, and some pretty great atmospheric and emotional writing. There were some parts where I began to feel it was a little bit dragged out, which is surprising for such a short book. Arbitrary Skepticism: David doubting the dragons at first is completely logical, but by the second book, one wonders why his Weirdness Censor is so hardy. Fans of ‘The Fire Within’ do not merely enjoy the novel. They will tell you that they absolutely love it. They think the story is sweet, encouraging and life-affirming.

Another reread from my childhood. I vividly remember blasting through the first four or five books in a night each as a kid, but all I really remember about the story is clay dragons, Gadzooks, and a polar bear and a white hedgehog. So it's once again time to see how well a childhood favourite holds up. Turns out pretty well. The fifth book, Dark Fire, sees David and Zanna teaming up with a group of dragons to stop an ancient evil that has been awakened. The book delves deeper into the mythology of the dragons and introduces new characters and plot twists that will keep readers guessing until the very end. David is on the Arctic currently along with his girlfriend Zanna. A series of very weird events start happening, as David has begun writing a story about his time on the Arctic, which he calls White Fire. The strange thing here is that although he thinks that he is writing fiction, the story in his book is actually happening to two bears who are called Ingavar and Thoran. Unfortunate Events The book suffers from a semi-common JF fiction problem of the characters acting weird just to fit the plot. The 20-yr-old instantly bonds with his landlord in one day and starts snooping around the neighbors yard to save squirrels, the Animal Hospital girl instantly bonds with the guy, the "evil" crow with the cool name randomly appears and then totally disappears to advance a weird plot angle...and oh yea, we have this cool cover about a dragon so we'll through in a few bits about them too. It's just annoying. Charlie Bone occasionally suffers from similar problems, but it's better than this. The Peter and the Starcatchers series is a good example of books aimed at the same age group and and actually well-written. This part shows you about the magnificent firebirds that roam freely in this world as well as introduces you to a few more characters who will definitely make this story a lot more exciting. Rosa is anotherOne thing that I only liked about this book were the dragons themselves. They may be just clay (with magical powers) throughout the plot but whatever. They're the reason why I even started reading this book in the first place. And the prospect of having seemingly alive clay dragons is kinda fascinating. I certainly didn't hate my time with this book--I did like it. There was just a lot of times where I felt like I was missing something. And maybe I was...from what I gather, these books are set in an already established universe, so maybe there's more world building in other books. I would still like to read more from d'Lacey, but maybe I'll try a different series before continuing on with this one. Touched by Vorlons: When the Fain commingle with people, they tend to leave quite a bit of residue behind. The first book in the series is The Fire Within, which introduces the main character David Rain, a college student who takes a job as a lodger with a family. It is there that he discovers the existence of dragons and meets a young dragon named Gadzooks, who is in need of David's help. The book sets the stage for the rest of the series and begins to explore the intricate mythology of the dragons. The Last Dragon Chronicles is a series of young adult fantasy novels written by Chris d'Lacey, consisting of seven books. The series is set in modern-day England and follows the adventures of a boy named David Rain and his discovery of the existence of dragons. The books are full of action, adventure, and mystery, and are a must-read for fans of the fantasy genre.

He has since written over twenty children's books, including Pawnee Warrior (a sequel to Fly, Cherokee, Fly), a collaborative novel with fellow children's author Linda Newbery (From E To You), and the best-selling, award-winning The Last Dragon Chronicles. His books often contain environmental themes, and events based on things that have happened to him. There is also another thrilling fact that you get to find out in this book and that is the fire tear, the one thing that Liz uses to give her precious clay dragons life. The aura from this fire tear, that gives life to these dragons, is kept in a snowball in her freezer. However, she doesn’t let David find that out just yet, as she only tells him that this snowball in the freezer is just a memory from past events. ZannaThe Fire Within’ explores the life of David Rain. A 20-year-old college student, David’s life changes when he moves in with Elizabeth Pennykettle and becomes her tenant. Elizabeth looks like an ordinary woman in her thirties. Five years have passed since David Rain disappeared mysteriously in the Arctic. And slowly the ice is changing, bears are starving, dragons are rising, and the souls of the Inuit dead are haunting the skies. The spirit Gaia, goddess of the Earth, is restless, aching to bring her might down upon these changes. But all living things may suffer if she does. The Chosen Many: Liz and Lucy aren't the only descendants of Guinevere running around, and on the flipside, Gwilanna isn't the only nasty sibyl...
