About this deal

Sanderson, Peter (February 6, 2006). "Comics in Context #119: All-Star Bats". IGN Entertainment, Inc. Retrieved April 24, 2013. Any size contribution will help keep CBH alive and full of new comics guides and content. Support CBH on Patreon for exclusive rewards, or Donate here! Thank you for reading! This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the comic book stories considered to be set on The Dark Knight Strikes Again. It is an adaptation of Kal-El/Superman. The original character was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and first appeared in Action Comics #1.

The Atom: Ray Palmer is trapped inside one of his own Petri dishes for over two years during which he battles dinosaur-like bacteria. He is rescued by Carrie Kelly, becoming one of the first of the old heroes to join Batman's cause. Renee has appeared in the Injustice: Gods Among Us prequel comic, and was the main character in a Convergence mini series. She also had brief appearances during a few issues of Detective Comics during the New 52 and DC Rebirth eras.Saturn Girl—a young, thirteen-year-old who can see into the future. She adopts the name and outfit of the 31st-century Legionnaire. Miller made Batman the old man with the short temper and no patience for those who couldn't keep up with him. He was the solitary, bitter figure, alarmed at the way the world had changed so fast and without any way for him to make it slow down, much less come to a stop. Kryptonian Physiology: Under the effects of a "yellow" sun, Superman possesses the same potential weaknesses as an average Kryptonian. These include: It’s not to say that comic book Vic Sage doesn’t dwell into conspiracy theories. He is a detective after all. But it wouldn’t be until the New 52 and Detective Comics #1000 where the status of Sage being a conspiracy theorist was made canon in the comics. DKR was originally published as a four-issue limited series in a then-new printing format called prestige format. This format later became more common. In addition to Frank Miller's story and pencils, Klaus Janson inks, and Lynn Varley provides colors for the series. Just as the characters of Norse mythology have their Ragnarok, Frank Miller sought to create a fitting end for the character of Batman.

The Friend Nobody Likes: In the Charlton Era, Sage is not popular at his TV station. His coworkers (outside his own incredibly loyal personal production staff) find him insufferable, while audiences find his dismissive feelings towards civil rights horrifying, and his self-righteous preaching grating. However the station's president likes his uncompromising attitude and will not fire him, and none of the sponsors will drop their support. If you answered 'C' above, well, I don't want to give anything away, but let's just say that you and Frank Miller have much in common!

Batman Unlimited: Mechs vs. Mutants: Penguin | Mr. Freeze | Cheetah | Hush | Mad Hatter | Two-Face | Bane | Chemo | Killer Croc | Clayface | Joker | Dr. Kirk Langstrom Bruce Wayne has retired from the Batman mantle after the death of the second Robin, Jason Todd. Ten years pass, during which Gotham City is overwhelmed with crime and plagued by a violent gang called "The Mutants." Bruce re-assumes the mantle of Batman after he encounters Mutant gang members in the alley where his parents were murdered. Batman is aided in fighting this menace by a new Robin, a young girl named Carrie Kelly.

Miller could literally have taken a shit on a copy of TDKR and published that, and it would be better than this. Instead here, he shits all over everything about it. Gordon's story about taking a baseball bat to Flass occurs in Batman: Year One, though not the way he makes it sound. Longevity: Superman can live longer than regular humans, remaining at his prime as long as he was under the exposure of the "yellow" sun. Life Will Kill You: Vic Sage was a heavy smoker and, even though he ditches the habit early in O'Neil's run, when he appears in 52 he has developed advanced lung cancer. There is no miracle cure, there is no alien healing technology, he just slowly wastes away physically and mentally before dying in the snow outside Nanda Parbat. Expy: A weird inversion, or something. This story's The Question is basically Rorschach from Watchmen, and Rorschach himself was a Captain Ersatz of the original Question, so this makes this version of the Question closer to the original Ditko Question and oh no, we've gone crosseyed.Catgirl: Carrie Kelly, formerly Robin, is now Catgirl (after Catwoman) but still Batman's able second-in-command. The Mutant Leader, head of a gang of teens called the "Mutants," who terrorize Gotham. The leader is a strong, savage brute who puts a hit on Gordon, beats Batman in their first encounter, goes to jail, kills the mayor (while still in jail), escapes, and is eventually beaten by Batman. Several of the Mutants join Batman in his quest and rename themselves The Sons Of Batman. Da Chief: A non-police version with Vic's tv station manager often butting heads with Vic's more head-on approach. The Question—fighting for Batman's cause, Vic Sage works mainly alone and tries to recruit the former Martian Manhunter. He spies on Luthor and his associates, and distrusts technology and municipalization.

Batman, aka Bruce Wayne, 55 years old. He gave up the Batman identity ten years past, strongly hinted as a reaction to the death of the former Robin, Jason Todd. But when he sees violence running rampant and his personal demons can no longer be denied, he is forced to return. James Gordon, Commissioner of the Gotham Police, 70 years old. He retires towards the end of the storyline.Ellen Yindel, James Gordon's successor. She starts off as Batman's fiercest opponent, but doubts herself after the Joker debacle (part 3) and is strongly hinted to protect him from prosecution at the end of the book. Author Avatar: It's pretty clear that this version of Batman is how Miller sees himself if he were Batman. Electromagnetic Spectrum Vision: Superman can see well into most of the electromagnetic spectrum. He can see and identify radio and television signals as well as all other broadcast or transmitted frequencies. Using this ability, he can avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods. This also allows him to see the aura generated by living thing. Batman—Bruce Wayne's alter ego who faked his death three years ago and continues to operate secretly as Batman in 1989. He leads a rebellion against the corrupt U.S. government headed by Lex Luthor. Batman is a skilled and controversial strategist who makes decisions which result in deaths, which he considers necessary for the defeat of his enemies. Achievement In Ignorance: Due to the fact that he has no knowledge of his past sins, as well as a need to question everything, The Question is the only member of The Trinity of Sin that does not believe he was judged justly. This allows him to break free of the subconsciously self-inflicted punishments of the Redemption Box.
