This is the last release to feature Duncan's nameboard sequence. Interestingly enough, both stories have cameo appearances by Duncan before his proper introduction.

The Season 5 intro (2004, version) nameplate sequence (1984-1986-1991-1994) and the UK Season 4 outro are uesd together.

On the DVD, when The Island Song starts, the beginning is out of sync. This problem is fixed in the James Goes Buzz Buzz DVD. On the front cover of the 2002 VHS and 2006 DVD releases, a promotional image from Thomas and the Magic Railroad is used.
