Experience a level of gaming more heart-pounding than anything before. The Samsung LC34G55T’s response time is superb for the panel type, although it isn’t perfect especially in dark transitions. Some minor persistence and smudging can happen in select sequences, so setting the overdrive to its maximum level is your best option. High-speed imaging will still capture some trails, but it won’t be an issue for the naked eye. When it comes to pixel response time performance, the Samsung C34G55T is similar to most VA panel displays. Sadly, this means that there’s some noticeable smearing behind fast-moving objects, especially in darker scenes since pixels take longer to change from dark into bright pixels. Additionally, there are plenty of movies shot at the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, which looks amazing on 21:9 monitors.
The Samsung LC34G55T’s stand only offers tilt so some users, especially the taller ones, might be disappointed. You only have to center the monitor so swivel and pivot aren’t necessary, but vertical ergonomics will always come in handy. You can opt for VESA mounts, but those will add more cost to your upgrade. MBR also reduces the monitor’s maximum brightness when enabled. To activate it, set the response time option to ‘Fastest (MBR).’ It only works at a fixed refresh rate of 165Hz, so unless you can keep constant 165FPS, some image duplication will be noticeable, but motion will appear smoother overall. On this 34″ ultrawide monitor, the 1000R curvature is not that much different than 1500R, so it won’t be an issue for most people. In fact, it helps with the immersion and reduces the issues caused by narrow viewing angles of the VA panel technology. Price & Similar Monitors Of course, IPS displays have their advantages too, such as wider viewing angles, more consistent colors and usually faster pixel response time speed.The Samsung C34G55T monitor has a screen resolution of 3440×1440 and an aspect ratio of 21:9. This makes it a bit more demanding to drive than Quad HD (2560×1440), but the trade-off is definitely worth it as you get a more immersive viewing experience with a wider field of view in supported games. At 165Hz, we recommend the ‘Fastest’ mode as it’s most efficient at eliminating ghosting artifacts. You can also use this mode at 60Hz, though some overshoot will become noticeable – in case it bothers you, dial the response time setting down to ‘Faster.’

The Samsung LC34G55T also doesn’t have speakers which you can use as a secondary for purposes other than gaming. But this omission is ok since immersive gaming monitors like this demand the use of headsets or surround speakers to achieve the full effect. Display and Performance The Samsung LC34G55T is a FreeSync variant, but it also works with Nvidia’s G-Sync Compatible mode. Take note that you need to use its DisplayPort slot since Adaptive Sync is either buggy or not working at all with the HDMI port. Input lag sits at 4ms at 165Hz, so there are no delays or de-synced instances while using the monitor. Thoughts on the Samsung LC34G55T You have to take note of the Samsung LC34G55T’s size since it requires a bit of depth from your desk. It requires almost a foot when assembled, and it’s almost 32 inches wide even if its curve is more pronounced. It’s not as heavy as monitors like the Gigabyte G34WQC, but it still isn’t portable since it’s bigger than your usual office display. The Samsung LC34G55T produces 99% sRGB and around 77% DCI-P3 which isn’t the best, but sufficiently good for gaming and daily use. The monitor’s default tuning is goo as well since the deltaE average is limited to 1.41. there is a very slight bluish tint on the screen, but it won’t be an issue for most users unless they do some editing work. All VA panels have some gamma/saturation shifts. Basically, a certain shade of red, for instance, can appear slightly different in the center of the screen and in a corner of the screen, depending on the angle you’re looking at the screen.
The Samsung LC34G55T’s build quality is decent even if it uses a lot of plastic due to its budget-oriented nature. The chassis itself looks refined and durable, but we can’t say that the stand is the same. It has a slight wobble and it’s quite stiff to tilt upward, so some users might want to use VESA mounts instead. Some competitive games, like Overwatch and StarCraft, however, don’t allow ultrawide resolutions as the extended field of view is considered as an unfair advantage. The Samsung C34G55T is yet another 34″ 3440×1440 ultrawide curved gaming monitor with a high refresh rate. Such high resolution on the 34″ sized screen of the Samsung C34G55T also hits the pixel density sweet spot of roughly 110 PPI (pixels per inch), meaning that you’ll get plenty of screen real estate, as well as sharp details and text, without any scaling necessary. What differentiates this model from the majority, however, is the fact that it has a more aggressively 1000R curved VA panel. Image QualityIn real use, the amount of smearing or ghosting will be tolerable or even negligible to most gamers, unless you’re extremely sensitive to it. If you mainly play fast-paced competitive games, you should be looking at a monitor with a higher refresh rate anyway. However, the Samsung LC34G55T doesn’t present the best value when compared against monitors like the Gigabyte G34WQC or the AOC CU34G2X. This model has a slight advantage in refresh rate and a deeper curve, but it loses out on vibrancy and features.
