Summary of Product Characteristics: Spironolactone Film-coated Tablets 12.5mg. ADVANZ Pharma. Revised October 2020. The Renal Drug Database is not intended to offer definitive advice or guidance on how drugs should be used in patients with renal impairment, nor is it a comprehensive and complete list of all drugs licensed in the UK. Quinine should be used with caution in patients with atrial fibrillation or other serious heart disease as it may cause hypoprothrombinaemia. Patients and or parents or the legal responsible person must be able to follow directions regarding the administration of this medicinal product, their monitoring and care. Pregnancy and Lactation Pregnancy Although the effects on the breastfeeding infant are unknown, the safe use of fluconazole in infants has been documented. Side EffectsAfter diagnosis of hyperaldosteronism has been established by more definitive testing, spironolactone may be administered at doses of 100mg to 400mg daily in preparation for surgery. For patients who are unsuitable for surgery spironolactone may be employed for long term maintenance therapy at the lowest effective dosage for the individual patient. Launched in 2014, The Renal Drug Database comprises all monograph information from the highly successful The Renal Drug Handbook, the universally-trusted resource for pharmacists seeking definitive prescribing information when treating patients with renal impairment. Other information: Details given here are only relevant to the use of that particular drug in patients with impaired renal function or on renal replacement therapy. For more general information, please refer to the Summary of Product Characteristics for that drug.

It is strongly recommended that all users read carefully the following information prior to using The Renal Drug Database. Exfoliative cutaneous reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis have been reported rarely. If a rash develops in a patient treated for a superficial fungal infection which may be attributed to fluconazole, discontinue treatment. If patients with invasive/systemic fungal infections develop rashes, they should be closely monitored and fluconazole discontinued if bullous lesions or erythema multiforme develop. Coccidioidomycosis: 200mg to 400mg daily. Treatment is for eleven months but can be increased to longer than twenty four months. 800mg daily may be necessary for some infections and in particular for meningeal disease. Treatment given for seven to fourteen days in oropharyngeal candidiasis (longer if required in severely immunocompromised patients).

If urinary Na+/K+ ratio is greater than 1, give 100mg daily. If the ratio is less than 1, give 200mg to 400mg daily. Summary of Product Characteristics: Diflucan 10 mg/ml powder for oral suspension. Pfizer Ltd. Revised May 2022. The Preface outlines how to use the monographs and basic drug dosing advice including valuable information on the use of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Dose in renal impairment: The level of renal function below which the dose of a drug must be reduced depends largely on the extent of renal metabolism and elimination, and on the drug’s toxicity. Most drugs are relatively well tolerated, have a broad therapeutic index or are metabolised and excreted hepatically, so precise dose modification is unnecessary. In such cases, the user is instructed to ‘dose as in normal renal function’.
