About this deal

Suitable for use where the following specifications are called for: BMW MTF LT-2, Ford M2C 186-A, GM 1940768, Mercedes Benz MB 235.10, MTF 94, Nissan MT-XZ TL (JR Type), Nissan MT-XZ, Special Honda MTF, Special Honda MTF II, Special Honda MTF-III, Tranself TRX, NFP, TRP, TRZ, Volvo 97308, API GL-4 Features & Benefits: MTF 94 is a proven performance, highly shear stable, multigrade manual transmission fluid designed for use in passenger car and sport utility vehicle manual transmissions and transaxles.

Meeting these demands means that MTF 94 is also suitable for use in manual transmissions and fitted to many other passenger cars and car-derived vans, particularly those manufactured by Honda. MTF 94 is also suitable for use in light-duty non-hypoid transfer boxes and ZEXEL limited slip axles. To be honest it was only a small filling station with a couple of pumps & a few stale pork pies & sarnies - didn't even have any wilting flowers or bags of BBQ charcoal outside ! MTF 94 is formulated with synthetic base oils and a high performance mild-EP additive system. The viscometrical profile of MTF 94 corresponds to the SAE 75W-80 viscosity grade. Product Highlight Basically they are of a type that the coefficient of friction increases as the hub speeds get closer together, allowing mesh of the 'dogs.Special combination of friction modifiers, additives and viscosity, offer optimum synchroniser operation, aiding light and easy shifting MTF 94 should not be used in automotive transmissions, transaxles or differentials that require an API GL-5 gear lubricant.

and FWIW I don't give a toss about the first couple of first to second changes first thing of a cold morning at -6*, but I can do without the baulky shifts and gear and bearing rattle on +35* days so, I actually use Motul Gear 300 these days, a 75W-90. They're not really the same: 75W80 GL4 is an ordinary generic gear-oil; MTF94 is a "modified friction" oil: thinner, and rather closer to ATF in its characteristics.MTF 94 is specifically designed around the demands of the passenger car manual transmissions used in Rover, Land Rover and Mini vehicles. MTF 94 is recommended for models equipped with the Rover PG-1, R65, R380 and Getrag 283 transmissions (Rover 200, 400, 600, 800, 25, 45, 75, MG-F; Land Rover Freelander, Defender, Discovery and Range Rover). It is not recommended for the GFT MT-82 six-speed transmission (fitted to the 2007 model Land Rover Defender). Fully synthetic manual transmission fluid with excellent bearing and gear protection and proven synchroniser performance Most xW-80 MTF's have a kinematic viscosity around the same, ATF's are around 6.5-7.5 cSt @ 100*C. A big difference.
