Revoltingly Resilient will be familiar to anyone who’s seen the Death Guard in action; each time an operative with this rule would lose a wound you roll a D6 and on a 5+, that wound isn’t lost. This basically increases the wound total of your bigger guys by 50%, and makes the Gellerpox Infected pound-for-pound the biggest wound kill team in the game. Teams that rely heavily on ranged snipers, vantage points, FLY, or indirect weapons are going to take a hit. Fly has been greatly reduced in its usefulness, and snipers may have a very difficult time finding targets. It’s always nice to have everything in one place, but since you’ll have to spend money on it, there better be some new rules! The Elucidian Starstriders and the Gellerpox Infected are cool old teams, so it’s nice to see them get a revamp with all new rules! This latest version of Kill Team is a brand new edition from Games Workshop, and there have been several previous editions. The first Kill Team was a small section in the 4th Edition of the main Warhammer 40,000 game in 2004. Then in 2016, a small boxed game was introduced, and then in 2018 with a much more detailed version, with lots of supplements. Kill Team has been through several editions before reaching the current Kill Team 2021 version. Why not build a kill team out of your Warhammer 40,000 collection and give these free rules a try? This is perhaps one of my favorite missions in the book. It is balanced, has the opportunity for decent scoring, and provides the opposing teams just enough options to reliably interfere with one another.

While the miniatures from the previous editions, along with the Warhammer 40,000 miniature range are still useable in Kill Team 2021, also known as KT21 or Kill Team 2nd Editon, the rules and supplements are not, as Kill Team has a brand new reworked ruleset. I honestly don’t know what to make of the Gellerpox Infected as a kill team; they seem fun as hell to play and completely monstrous to take down, but they also seem a bit ponderous and slow in some regards. A lot of their games will depend on their ability to tank hits and plow into opponents early, which may be tough with lots of vertical terrain against faster opponents who can FLY. They’re also going to struggle a lot against enemies who can Stun them and make their massive wound pools mostly worthless. On the other hand they’ll also eat a ton of wounds and stay in the game and it’ll be interesting to see how that works out. This issue also includes a pull-out card sheet with Tac Ops cards for the six kill teams from Octarius, Chalnath, and Nachmund. Any six-sided dice will do for Kill Team, but it's a scientific fact that having themed dice for your chosen faction will roll better than a random assortment of dice. Currently, dice have been released for the Octarius, Chalnath, Nachmund, and Moroch kill teams, the Death Korps of Krieg, Ork Kommandos, Tau Pathfinders, Adepta Sororitas Novitiates, Chaos Space Marine Legionary, Aeldari Corsair Voidscarred, Militarum Traitoris Blooded, and Space Marine Phobos Strike Team.
