It begs the question, are the expensive ones worth the price, or are cheaper alternatives the way forward? This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I like a stronger perfume for an evening scent. Aldi have done a good job in trying to replicate the smell though, and I think if you haven't worn the Jo Malone version before, you'd be impressed with the dupe.

The supermarket chain also has a range of perfumes, which look and smell strangely familiar. Aldi's 'Hotel Collection' perfumes have a similar vibe to the Jo Malone fragrance range, but come in at a tiny fraction of the price of course. So many people have been looking for a Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin dupe so I know this will be good news to them! Aldi has a selection of reed diffusers from Hotel Collection which are Jo Malone dupes. I have tried other scents before, but this is the first time I've tried the No.3 Pomegranate Reed Diffuser.

The first thing I noticed was the smell as soon as I took the lid off before I'd even sprayed the product. Straight away it smelt very familiar, so this was a positive first impression. Designer perfumes are a wonderful thing – but let’s be honest, they don’t come cheap. So it’s not surprising that Aldi perfume dupes have become some of the most popular products in the supermarket’s surprisingly vast It gave off a really delicious fresh, citrusy scent and it just kept developing as time went on, though not in an overpowering way. If I entered the room, or walked around it, I'd get a stronger smell of the fragrance but it was also subtly noticeable just when sitting in the room. I'd describe the fragrance as very 'spa like' - it reminded me of a really lovely facial oil - and it didn't smell synthetic in any way.

I opted for Superdrug’s Layering Lab Body Mist in the scent Paradise, which is meant to be a dupe of Paco Rabanne’s popular fragrance Olympea. Lacura E1 Exclusive Only = Dior Miss Dior OR Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Rosé (mixed opinions on this one) My go-to perfume is Thierry Mugler’s Alien and has been for the last few years. It’s rare that I’ll deviate from it, but I recently came across a good dupe that’s useful on the days I don’t fancy wearing my good perfume. Unscrew the collar, remove the bottle disc and replace the collar. Insert the reeds through the collar and immerse in the oil. Turn the reeds after 6-8 hours and the fragrance will fully bloom within 36 hours. Keep product upright in a secure place.

Chanel perfume dupes

Jo Malone's Velvet Rose & Oud has been my go-to evening perfume for the last few years, so when I first came across Aldi's Hotel Collection No. 14 Velvety Rose, I didn't quite know how to feel. I headed to my local Aldi and was delighted to see all but a few bottles on the shelf, while there was a few different scents to choose from, I grabbed myself a pomegranate noir as that is the Jo Malone scent I am most familiar with so I felt it would be the best one to compare accurately. Here's how I found it. I couldn’t get my hands on the eau de toilette, but I did get the body mist - and it didn’t disappoint. With that in mind, we decided to put a range of perfume dupes, said to be similar to high street and designer favourites to the test, to see how they held up. Here's the results: Layering Lab Blossom Body Mist Dupe for: Thierry Mugler’s Alien Isoeugenol,Eugenol, Methyl Cedryl Ether, Reaction Mass Of 1-[(1s*,6s*)-2, 2, 6-trimethylcyclohex-3-en-1-yl)But-2-en-1-one.

The sensual scent of Lacura Lady Pour Femme boasts dark notes of sandalwood and tonka bean that complement undertones of orange blossom and Bulgarian rose. Escentric Molecules perfume dupe Aldi Atom Blossom is just as floral and feels just as luxurious as Alien, but certainly doesn’t last as long.

Thankfully, this settled down as the day went on. I'd say the pomegranate scent isn't my favourite of the Hotel Collection diffusers, but I'm still impressed with the power of it considering it's so cheap. The scents of other Hotel Collection diffusers I've bought in the past have lasted longer than the estimated time, too! While I’m usually comfortable in the knowledge that I’ve used Alien in the morning and it’ll last all day, I took to carrying Blossom around with me as it seemed to fade after an hour or two. Aldi is certainly know for its dupes, from its Cuthbert the Caterpillar controversy and 'Mint Bubbly' take on Aeros, to its Lacura range, which has versions of best-selling beauty products by Liz Earle, Nivea, Pixi and more.
