About this deal

Similar to those found on most Swarovski binoculars, the design and indeed function of the eyecups used on these Hawke Frontier ED binoculars is nothing short of excellent. than once, so I was delighted to get a good look at the new Frontier ED X 8x42s and see how they compared with previous models. The first thing to say is that they look and feel good. They’re relatively compact for 8x42s, and well balanced, with their 692g weight feeling even less in the hand.

The Frontier HDX is covered by Hawkes incredible No-Fault Lifetime Warranty — which means that if your binocular is damaged or defective for whatever reason, regardless of what happened or whose fault it was, Hawke will repair or replace it free of charge, for life. It’s one of the best warranties in the industry and proof that Hawke really believes in the quality and longevity of its products. Conclusion They also look to have a typical shape and design for a modern roof prism binocular, but there are a few small differences and details worthy of a mention:

Using a superior optical system and high-grade materials, the Frontier series produce stunning colour retention, crisp definition and excellent light transmission.

Handling. Very user friendly with a silky smooth focus wheel and dioptre adjustment. On the subject of the right eye adjustment , this can be turned easily with the eye cups twisted down. With some, you need to twist out to comfortably do this. The texture of the rubber body is incredibly grippy and gives you confidence when using.

I observed in my review of the Frontier EDX that Hawke had “taken a significant step towards narrowing that gap” in terms of build quality, design and attention-to-detail between their best binoculars and those of more premium brands. That same build quality is evident in the HDX. It employs the same contemporary single-hinge design, and in the 32mm configuration is even more compact. In fact, it’s smaller than most 32mm binoculars I’ve used and is similar in size to the increasingly popular semi-compact 30mm binoculars like Swarovski’s CL Companion range or the fantastic Kite Lynx HD (my lightweight choice for travel). Introduced at the beginning of the year, the Hawke Frontier ED X supersedes the old, very popular Frontier ED family. The new models, available in 8x42 and 10x42, pass through Hawke's strict quality control inspection, Hawke Frontier ED X Binoculars uses a superior optical system, designed around ED glass, the Frontier ED X produces stunning colour retention, crisp definition and excellent light transmission. The Hawke Frontier LRF binoculars use high light transmission optics and a red coloured OLED display to make the view to your target clearer than ever before. Frontier LRF Binoculars are designed to deliver highly accurate distance measurements with the press of a button. They are ergonomically constructed to fit comfortably in your hand with easy access to both of the control buttons. As the barrels are nice and far apart, just about any tripod adapter that I have seen should work just fine.

Some binos I test take fewer turns, whilst others more. I feel that this middle ground offers a good compromise between the speed at which you can make large focal adjustments versus how easy it is to make fine adjustments to the focus.
