About this deal

The mission takes place in a rundown estate (Thornton) where a notorious drug dealer grew up. On the first day of school, James befriends Keith (Junior) Moore, the second-eldest son of Keith Moore. Mistaken for Cheating: In Brigands MC, Dante Scott is introduced as an old friend of Lauren's from training, who was on a mission for three years. Lauren is naturally overjoyed to see him, but her boyfriend, Rat, gets very jealous and accuses her of cheating on him (she wasn't). James was born under the name James Robert Choke in Tufnell Park, London on October 27, 1991. He lived with his half-sister Lauren and his mother, Gwen Choke, who ran the largest shoplifting empire in North London from an armchair in their living room. James didn't know who his father was, though it is revealed in a deleted chapter from Divine Madness (as well as at the end of the book Shadow Wave) that he was a mathematics professor. This is James’s 8th mission and its objective was to intercept a turf war between two major gangs in England, ‘The Slasher Boys’ and ‘The Runts’ . The story line follows after the end of Class A where Keith Moore’s gang has collapsed with the two gangs engaged in a violent conflict over the Luton underworld. Cherub’s plan is to sneak James into a football club controlled by the Mad Dogs and endeavouring to use his connections with Keith Moore to get close to Sasha, the leader of the gang. James throughout the plot shows his loyalty through raids and stealing and eventually gains the Boss’ trust. Mad Dogs gives us the Salford Boys, a minor drug gang operating out of London. Several "junkie bitches" are part of their gang, at least one of them being an abusive and neglectful mother who beats her son and leaves him unwashed and covered in excrement, disgusting and enraging even the Mad Dogs. Their only contribution to the plot is to have their hard front robbed by the Mad Dogs.

Team Pet: While the cherubs themselves are not allowed pets, we do get a close equivalent with the beagle Meatball, who Lauren helped rescue from an illegal puppy mill on a mission in Man vs. Beast, and ended up becoming the CHERUB chairwoman's family pet, allowing Meatball to reappear frequently.Again averted in Divine Madness when Help Earth! bombs natural gas facilities, because the explosion will be clean and not release fumes into the atmosphere. The Killing is a lot smaller-scale and less dramatic than the stories immediately before and after it, and none of the main characters ever end up in real danger, even if the subject matter itself is still pretty serious, involving an armed robbery conspiracy, corrupt cops, police brutality, and a murder cover-up. Fittingly, the mission itself is only classified as "low-risk", while the missions in the novels before and after it are both "high-risk". I love the one man for the job vibe going on when James gets assigned to the mission. Its a really nice touch. a b Muchamore, Robert (2004). The Recruit. CHERUB. Vol.1. Hodder & Stoughton. ISBN 978-0-340-88153-8.

The gap of less than four seconds between jumps turned the queue into a slow walk. Every time someone lined up in the doorway, James hoped they’d mess up so that they’d be out of the drop zone before his turn came around. But each trainee had invested ninety-six gruelling days into qualifying as a CHERUB agent. Bruised, hungry and exhausted, they’d put in too much to let fear get the better of them now. Teens Are Monsters: There is no shortage of chavs and yobs among the Council Estate wastelands depicted, not to mention teenage drug dealers, drug users, gangsters etc. Even many of the "good guy" CHERUB agents show a bad streak sometimes. The Fuhrer and Dirty Dave escape punishment for killing Dante's family and, in Dirty Dave's case, sexually abusing young girls, in Brigands M.C., but then get arrested at the beginning of Shadow Wave for being involved in a weapons deal, and end up getting exposed and charged with the murders. Greg "Rat" Rathbone is about a year younger than James. He is Lauren Adams' boyfriend. He was recruited in the fifth book, Divine Madness. We really see Bruce and James bond (< I just noticed this promise it wasn't meant xD) a lot over the course of this mission through mature conversations. James loses his V-card to Lois and its hard to deny that most boys that age would turn down the offer. James is obviously a good looking guy who attracts the attention of both sexes ( cough Wheels) and we just have to live with that and be proud of our boy. Bruce talks James through his increasingly bad rep on campus and we see James mature by telling Dana he's made a big mistake, worried the lies will play on his mind and ruin the relationship. Robert Muchamore (2012). "Biography". Archived from the original on 2 February 2014 . Retrieved 4 October 2012. Mad Dogs is the eighth novel in the CHERUB series by Robert Muchamore. In this novel CHERUB agents infiltrate a violent street gang.

Plant listening devices in the office of George Stein, a professor with suspected links to Help Earth (with Shak) (SUCCESS) The Sleepwalker: An anonymous call to the police where the caller changed his mind and hung up without saying anything → a conspiracy to supply faulty parts to airline companies, leading to a plane crash that kills 345 people.Hero of Another Story: Every cherub (and ex-cherub) besides James and Lauren are the hero of another story at one point or another, since they all have/had their own missions, which are rarely mentioned in more than passing. Very often, one or more of their friends will be absent from CHERUB campus at any time because they're on a mission. Come on,’ Kazakov said, showering James with spit. ‘You’re useless; you’re supposed to be helping out with the little ones.’ I really enjoy getting to see Kyle and Lauren working together on a cunning scheme to take down Large. Its Kyle last dodgy scheme and I got quite emotional reading about him leaving. Lauren finally gets a deserving punishment where we might see her mature a bit more and move on from lording her status. So James found himself in the doorway, buffeted by freezing air and sunlight with his strop hooked to the cable above his head. With the drop zone closing in twenty-two seconds, he crouched and felt extremely dizzy as he looked down. They were below cloud cover and the orange chute of the previous jumper was unravelling, high above seven kilometres of golden sand. Hassam Bin Hassam from The Sleepwalker is abusive towards his wife and son murdering the former and makes a fortune from reselling shoddy plane parts, which can cause plane crashes. He is also a hypocrite who preaches that his son must respect his heritage, but is happy to ignore it himself. Hassam is one of the few villains to be killed off instead of arrested, pulling a Suicide by Cop after taking his son hostage and having him subsequently freed by a CHERUB agent.

Kazakov seems to have taken over the role, especially after Mr. Large is forced to resign. Unlike Large, though, Kazakov actually knows when enough is enough. Harmful to Minors: Too many examples to list, but perhaps the worst involves a young child seeing his entire family brutally murdered. The campus scenes at the church are quite emotional. Also is the first time we see Dennis King since The Recruit ? for such a big figure in CHERUB you would think James would cross paths on a mission with him at some point. With its large grounds, specialist training facilities and combined role as a boarding school and intelligence operation, CHERUB actually has more staff than pupils. They range from cooks and gardeners to teachers, training instructors, nurses, psychiatrists and mission specialists. CHERUB is run by its chairwoman, Zara Asker.James Adams himself is a very flawed human being, with a violent temper, repeatedly cheats on his girlfriends, has sexist and minor homophobic tendencies (at least at the beginning), and loves getting into trouble with the law (with indications that, if it weren't for CHERUB, he'd be spending a lot of life behind bars), but he (usually) has good intentions at heart, and he's often up against guys who kill and/or torture people without remorse. The pacing in this book works great and offers great intensity throughout from parachute jumps in training, stabbings, robberies and even the saving of a rather adorable beagle! CHERUB is a branch of British Intelligence. Its agents are aged between 10 and 17 years. Cherubs are mainly orphans who have been taken out of care homes and trained to work undercover. They live on CHERUB campus, a secret facility hidden in the English countryside. Wake Up, Go to School, Save the World: Pretty much the entire point of the series. Teenagers deal with the normal pressures of teen school and social life on top of their challenging missions.
