The Omnitrix appears in the first two incarnations of the franchise ( Ben 10 and Ben 10: Alien Force), but Ben had to destroy it and use the Ultimatrix in the Ultimate Alien series. The Ultimatrix had most of the same functionality as the Omnitrix, but would allow the user to transform the alien into its Ultimate Form (how the species and its DNA would evolve in a one-million-year simulation). Their internal nanotechnology allows for Upgrade's primary ability to merge with and 'possess' any technology within reach by spreading over it like liquid, enhancing it far beyond its original design. Stinkfly can excrete high-pressure streams of liquids from the pollen ducts in his eye stalks and mouth. The type of liquid can range in use from flammable toxin, putting out fires to an immobilizing jelly. In Don't Drink the Water, Ben's child form of Stinkfly, Stinkyfly could emit a powerful herbicide gas through flatulation, it is unknown if older Stinkfly can do this. In 2013, in response to fan questioning about rumors of a Gwen 10 spin-off series, Man of Action confirmed they were actively working with a Japanese anime company to develop a series that would "just follow Gwen without any Ben" as they attend college, retaining her boyfriend Kevin Levin as a supporting character, citing the character's greater popularity in Asia compared to Ben as the reason for the solo series entering development. [12] Despite this, no update on the Gwen 10 spin-off has been given as of 2023. Set 5 years after the events of the original series, the now-teenaged Ben and Gwen Tennyson return to action after Grandpa Max goes missing. Joining them is the villain-turned-hero from the original series Kevin Levin, an alien tech dealer who can absorb any material akin to Absorbing Man. Ben 10,000's XLR8 also has a scanner built into the helmet, the product of nanotechnology Ben 10,000 uses to enhance his aliens. The Bandai profile for XLR8 describes the actual species much differently. The profile states that Kinecelerans are vaguely elfin in appearance, with long hair, blue skin, pointed ears and large tails.
Following the success of the Ben 10 animated TV series and films, various Ben 10 merchandise has been released for general sale. These items include comic books, board games, card games (such as Top Trumps), toys, video games, Lego construction sets, bedding, coloring books, footwear, and watches (the Omnitrix and the Ultimatrix). Ben 10 villains, such as the Enoch, Hex and Animo, make a brief cameo in The Secret Saturdays episode "Van Rook's Apprentice". References to Galvan Prime and Wildvine's species also appear in "Guess Who's Going to be Dinner?" and "Eterno" respectively. Both references were made by the Secret Scientist Dr Arthur Beeman, the UFOlogist for the series.
Ultimate Humungousaur is the evolved form of Humungousaur but his strength is well above the normal Humungousaur. His skin is nearly impenetrable and also has the ability to shoot bones as missiles from his hands and has a mace tail. Recalibration Mode/Blue-Updates the the Omnitrix's form and aliens to match the physical maturity of its wearer.
Comics
In the episode "So Long and Thanks for All the Smoothies", the universe is destroyed and so then Ben as Alien X simply builds another universe that was just like the old one. Another major storyline is that Earth was taken over by the Incursean Empire. Ben was defeated and exiled into space where his sentence was death, but he had an unlikely ally. Azmuth also gave him his Incursean transformation which allowed him to return to Earth and save it thus ending the Incursean rule and saving Earth yet again. When Albedo returned he recreated the Ultimatrix and attempted to take over the universe by stealing Azmuth's intelligence, but he was stopped. Gwen and Kevin do make occasional appearances now, but they are simply minor recurring characters now. Max Tennyson is a part of Ben's team again and has been in nearly every episode.
