What is the difference between Barrettine Wood Preserver, Wood Protective Treatment and Universal Preserver? Brush, dip, roller or spray in suitable conditions. (When used outdoors make sure weather conditions are dry and still). Freshly cut sawn ends should be thoroughly treated with either Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver, or alternatively Barrettine End Grain PreserverFor use on bare wood which will be over-coated, for example with Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment or opaque paint, or physically protected from the elements. The sprayer must be thoroughly cleaned after application with white spirit and then oiled to protect the tip and moving parts (as per manufacturer’s instructions). This product cannotbe sprayed with a traditional pump action garden sprayer. Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver is a high-quality, low odour, oil based wood preserver that is deep penetrating. Barrettine wood preserver is used for wood protection against wood-destroying fungi (wet rot), wood discolouring fungi and wood-boring insects. This wood preserver provides a semi-transparent matt/satin finish allowing the natural wood texture to be visible, it can be used on pressure-treated wood, treated timber or untreated wood. This high-quality wood treatment is suitable for rough, sawn or smooth timber, does not require over sealing for wood protection. No subsequent topcoat is required unless for aesthetic purposes. Barrettine Wood Preserver is for outdoor use and also for use on windows/frames, external doors/frames (internal & external sections). The Barrettine Wood Preserver Clear can also be used on structural timbers in unoccupied areas such as floor joists. The colour swatches are an indication only and representative of the product applied to clean new/pale timber and rough sawn pine (2 coats). The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated and will darken with multiple coats. Viewing colours on multiple digital screens can vary considerably and may not be totally accurate. We always recommend carrying out a small inconspicuous test area first. It is the Customer/end users responsibility to satisfy themselves that the colour finish is correct before full application. Smooth Pine (2 coats)

With a low odour, this deep penetrating oil/spirit wood preservative is ideal for use on treated and untreated wood and gives a semi transparent finish, which allows the natural wood texture to show through. For added protection against mould, algae and wood boring insects, pre-treat garden wood with Barrettine Universal Preservative or Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver for a similar colour range

Areas that have been affected by mould, algae or fungi should be treated with Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner Brush down the wood with a stiff broom or brush to remove any ingrained surface dirt and biological growthEnsure that wooden surfaces to be treated with Barrettine Wood Preserver are clean, dry and free from surface dirt, debris and other surface contaminates. New Bare Wood Although the solvent content of this product can perish the washers and hoses of some spray systems, it can still be a time and cost effective way to treat large areas. We recommend that if using a spray system you try to complete the project in one day. This said however, depending on the type and brand of sprayer, it may take longer than this. Cleaning Equipment If protecting the natural colour of the wood is important, use the clear preservative then overcoat with Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra or Fiddes Exterior High Build Wood Oil.
