The ECG app and irregular rhythm notification require the latest version of watchOS and iOS, and are not intended for use by people under 22 years old. The ECG app is available on Apple Watch Series 4 or later (not including Apple Watch SE). The irregular rhythm notification is not designed for people who have been previously diagnosed with Afib.

While the Series 6 can also upgrade to the 8th-gen version too, and many newer ones that get released, we tested it on watchOS 7. Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular) can use a cellular connection for Emergency SOS. To use Emergency SOS on an Apple Watch without cellular, your iPhone needs to be nearby. If your iPhone isn’t nearby, your Apple Watch needs to be connected to a known Wi-Fi network and you must set up Wi-Fi Calling.

There are no categories to dig into, or long lists of tailored recommendations, just a short list of seemingly-random options, and while we like the idea of being able to grab a new app without needing to reach for our phone, it doesn’t really feel like it’s worth the effort of doing so on the small screen when the larger iPhone can do the job so much more effectively. The new colors and designs are interesting, with the new blue and red flavors, in particular, appealing on the wrist, the aluminum casing blending nicely with the more striking hues. Fast charging is compatible with Apple Watch Series 7 or later, including all Ultra models. It is not compatible with any Apple Watch SE model.

Apple's new smartwatch focuses on health. One of Series 6's most talked about features is the new pulse oximeter, or blood oxygen meter. Thanks to a built-in Sp02 sensor, it is capable of analysing O2 concentration in just 15 seconds. And that's not all. It even reminds you to wash your hands regularly! Different Models, Different Prices However, while this is useful, we feel it's still not well-implemented. The always-on display is helpful at times, but mostly we just want to see the time. The problem is that, even though the screen of the Apple Watch 6 dims when it's not being looked at, it’s still rather bright. The Apple Watch Series 6 design is the same as that of any recent Apple Watch (as in, from the Apple Watch 4 onwards).
