About this deal

The overall storyline of the show is a cleverly condensed dramatisation of events that actually took place in the period between circa 800 and 880 and led to the birth of the first English kingdom. The fictional Ragnar Lodbrog (Lothbrook) character as well as Ladgerda (Lagertha), Aslaug (aka. Kraka) are described by the Danish historian Saxo Grammaticus who lived in the 1200s. Most likely, Saxo deliberately used the actual viking king Godfred as his inspiration. Isla is the FMC who was strong, sassy, fierce and protective of those she loved. Kai is the MMC who was brooding, powerful, protective and loving. Isla and Kai met and their mating bond snapped but both decided it's better for everyone to separate their ways. But little did they know? Fate put them on a same path again and it's complicates their decision without touching each other. Only tension is high. Besides that, Isla and Kai faces the mystery that looms over Deimos history and suspicious those they trusted but who to trust in the end? The war is threatening between two powerful territories and Isla is caught between.

As always, remember, you can watch Vikings online via TV Fanatic if you ever miss an episode and need to catch up. The story was soo interesting as well as intriguing. The world building is vast and unique. The characters development are good and side characters are hilarious and witty Banters. Tension between characters are toe curling. Everything was painfully detailed and more suspense, more mystery and actions. It's third person POV. What's it all mean? Is Harbard good or evil? What's he want with the women of Kattegat? What's the deal with the dead boys fished out of the sea?The entire cast was lovable and relatable, especially the main two, Isla and Kai. They were fleshed out and REAL in the same way I felt Feyre and Rhys were real. We get to see how the interact in all different situations, not just with each other but separately as well. I LOVED Isla, and am always excited to find a strong female character than embraces her femininity. What did you think of "Warrior's Fate"? Will you miss Torstein? Is Floki getting on your nerves? Does Harbard posses special powers? How do you feel about Lagertha and King Ecbert? Your turn friends, please hit the comments and share your thoughts with me. Did King Ecbert just introduce Paris as a challenge to lead the Northmen out of Wessex? It certainly seems like the main players on Vikings have their own little Game of Thrones going on. I'm very curious to see how things between Ragnar, Ecbert and Lagertha play out. Was anyone else turned off watch our heroic shield maiden kiss the English King?

Historically, we know the Viking culture was assimilated into mainstream European and Christian culture. Floki is actually making a ton of sense, but Ragnar's far too focused to pay any attention. It is an through and carefully-written book - everything comes together and there are no unexplained or irrelevant plotholes- which makes reading it efffortless. I loved the way mental health struggles around trauma were presented. It was so visceral and deep. Chaotic and yet, so easy to follow. It felt like my own brain quite frankly. I felt that really detracted from the book and wasn’t consistent with the obstinate, witty and mischievous characters we had been reading about. Definitely could’ve used more relationship development and maybe even a misunderstanding/ separation or two -– which perfect opportunity here because warring nations 😔 but alas it wasn’t to be The faith of some extends to martyrdom. It’s a feature of many religions, even today, that those who die in their defense or according to their rules will reap rewards in the next life. While we see none of the zealotry that tends to be a feature of the former in this episode, the title definitely references the latter. Torstein meets his fate head-on when he all but begs (or as close as a Viking gets to begging) Rollo to drag him to the battlefield so he can die fighting, thus earning his way into Valhalla. His faith (and the content of that faith) is highlighted because his death in the beginning of the battle is in counterpoint to Burgred’s surrender at its end. Of course, while we are intended to see that surrender as cowardly, it also marks out an important difference between the two belief systems: the attitudes of each towards fate and free will.

On the night she's to enter the Hunt, a perilous trial to earn her title of warrior, Isla meets her fated mate. Handsome, arrogant, and frustratingly captivating, Kai is everything she could want, but nowhere near what she needs right now. Because he is the king of the enigmatic Deimos...which makes Isla their rightful queen. Permalink: This is not about you Floki. It's about our children and their children. It is about our...Helga, Siggy, and Aslaug help Harbard with his injured hand and lodging while he tells them stories about his travels and the gods. When Ecbert arrived with the good news that Mercia was defeated, I wasn't expecting Lagertha to invite him to a sacrifice ritual. Was Judith that obsessed with Athelstan that she recommended they stay? I've always enjoyed the way this show portrays Viking culture and their rituals. While it seems cruel and barbaric to us, those were there beliefs so why not explore them on the show? Lagertha is a vision even drenched in ox blood. Sorry, I just had to throw that out there. The goddess, Fate, must enjoy playing with the mortals. For why else would she choose the most important night of Isla’s life to place her soulmate on her path? Another irritant through the series - the whole storyline takes place over a couple of years. It is not an "evolutionary" timescale. So this whole "variants evolve" business is just annoyingly wrong. But I understand why the author thought it is needed. The "monsters" otherwise would be too dull of an enemy.

This also introduced us to one of my favorite types of villains: the ones who believe they are the hero. I admittedly was nervous to start this book. I am a person who likes to invest in the main protagonists relationship and to hear they are rejecting it made me pause. Thankfully I saw someone talk a little bit about it on Tiktok and decided to buy the e-book copy. Let me start off and say I am buying the physical copy to add to my shelf.Apparently I took my sweet time finishing this beast of a book. It wasn’t bad, it was just a lot for me personally. If half of it was cut and reshaped a bit, I think we could still get the same tension and mystery. Even with the points listed above, I rated the book 4.5 stars and rounded up to 5 stars because I just couldn’t rate it 4 stars, it was too good for that. Book Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Fantasy Romance, Magic, Paranormal, Paranormal Romance, Romance, Shapeshifters, Werewolves, Witches Poor Athelstan—when Ecbert and Lagertha start unashamedly coupling in the bath, he’s simply ignored, left to look awkward and towel off.
