As with all diet changes, a dogs stomach is sensitive so never make a big switch straight away. Start with an 80:20 balance of old/new food, and then a week later move to 50:50, 20:80 until completely switched out. For this reason we've calculated the approximate 'as fed' percentages for the main ingredient categories in the finished product. Cold-pressed food is also seen as a great alternative to raw food, for anyone who doesn’t like that idea but wants something a bit more ‘real’. As it is dried, it is a lot more convenient than freezing and defrosting frozen raw food. Brands were a big plus for us too. Most brands which produce cold-pressed dog food do so solely, so you know research goes into the bag and there’s no risk of contamination. Absolutely. When changing your dog’s food always do so gradually by replacing a little of the current food with Walker & Drake, and increase the proportion over a two week period until Walker & Drake is the only food offered. All of the natural ingredients retain their flavour, aroma, vitamins and nutritional value this way, as extreme heat isn’t used. These are all essential to growth, digestion and good health.The ingredients are first mixed together with cold water and then pressed under low heat for a short time. It keeps the nutrients there which are often lost under heat, particularly the ones within the natural oils.
