About this deal

Some of the names, oh boy it was a little hard to pronounce, but that´s just because Irish is such a hard language! When eighteen-year-old Arianna is stolen from her family and sold into slavery, she spends months disguised as a half-breed Fae struggling against the devastations of a decade-long war. But she never expected to find herself at the mercy of her country’s greatest enemy. I was convinced to read this because a TikTok edit talking about a "touch her and you die" enemies-to-lovers dynamic with a "PUT. HER. DOWN" scene by her enemy so he could rescue her. It makes sense in context... but I'm sad to say that the edit was more exciting than the scene itself... or any following scene after it. I will say that I thought the story was much better than the cover 😬

The sun illuminated the area enough for her to witness the exhilaration on Rion’s face and the Fairy Folk that played at their feet. Rion, aka The Demon, is one of the sweetest and most complex male MC I have ever read! Of course, he looks intimidating and scary at first, but I loved those first moments he starts to open up and show some vulnerability. Their relationship loosely reminds me of Beauty and the Beast, because Arianna is the only one that sees beyond the monster and into his soul.THANKFULLY, I'd add, because The Divine and the Cursed is actually avwell written and interesting little gem that will definitely surprise its reader. edit june 2024: I just found out this finally got a cover makeover and the new one is absolutely gorgeous! FINALLY!

With that ending, I know there'll be at least one more book, and I need it badly, and fast! I need more of Arianna and Rion and I need to know what happens next and how all the dots are connected. Let me start by saying that if you like romance, fantasy, enemies to lovers and “you touch her/him, you die”, this book is for you! Anyway, I have to say that I went into this with some trepidation; the first couple of chapters were giving me The Cruel Prince vibes (which I hated, by the way), but I changed my mind soon after. The story was compelling and I really thought the idea was original in lots of ways and would read a series of it. I didn’t like the multiple POVs. Although I can see them being useful, they felt randomly placed. I would have rather had dual POV for Arianna and Rion.

Was there an editor involved in this? Because there are full paragraphs that should've been deleted. However, the reason I’m rating it low is that this book is desperately in need of an editor. There were so many errors that it consistently brought me out of moments in the book. There is a scene between a villain fae and his commander that was super unnecessary and felt like not trusting the readers to connect the dots. There were some errors in the sentences and the pacing didn’t make sense. This book has everything you want in a Romantasy. And even tho this book is not spicy there is a bit of steam because of the description towards the attraction they have for each other. The beginning of this book starts off as a love triangle but that’s because relationships are allowed if you have not yet found your mate. Clearly she found her mate and she turned feral to protect him from anyone who would hurt him. She protects him and he protects her. I couldn't come up with any good sides, so maybe this should be a one star, lol. Tbf, I didn't realize so many things had annoyed me until I actually started writing the list lol. The spice is not explicit and it’s definitely a slow burn! So keep that in mind! I did love the use of “touch her and die” and the protectiveness of the MMC.

So I finally finished this book. And it is no mistake in the plot, quality of writing (which is excellent), or the story why it took me so long. It's just I enjoyed this as an audiobook, which I received from the author directly, and I didn't really have a lot of time with everything going on in my life to sit down and listen to the book.

How to download The Divine and the Cursed?

My heart broke for them so many times. I ugly cried a lot, so I craved the sweet moments as much as I crave chocolate ice cream...every damn minute. I'm not talking about smut, mind it. I was glad, for one, that even if there's some action, but it's the behind the scene kind. It totally fits the novel, and it's not relevat to the story. This is one of the most DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. First of all this series has a really fresh idea to it. It has a magic system that isn’t just a male fantasy lead with shadows and darkness. I thought the demons that Rion struggled with and the way they manifested into his character becoming the demon was really interesting. I thought the author did a good job of empathizing the fact that his trauma wasn’t instantly washed away but what was happening. This was dark, twisted, addicting, magical, and romantic, all in one book that you’ll want to read cover to cover in as few sittings as possible. This takes the enemies to lovers/forbidden love trope to a whole new level. I love seeing new twists on popular tropes, and Reed kept me guessing at every turn. I was dying trying to figure out what was happening next, and whether Arianna would find her HEA. No spoilers, you’ll have to find out where she lands on your own! (And it may not be where you expect). Arianna is an amazing heroine, and you can’t help but fall in love with her, she’s strong, smart, and determined. I didn’t want to like Rion, but I’ll let you form your own opinion on him. Final note…we are getting a sequel…right?!
