About this deal

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it. When she makes it to land, she feels like she’s being trailed. It’s three girls from her ship. They’ve been following Draxen’s ship the whole time to make sure she’s safe. She sends them away with a message for her father. Two more down, Captain,” Mandsy, my temporary first mate, says from where she peeks through the trapdoor.

I catch the pirate before his corpse hits the ground and gently lower him the rest of the way. He is only the first of Theris's - no, Vordan's, I remind myself - crew who will die tonightGet up. I direct the words at Vordan, but they are not an ordinary command spoken with an ordinary voice. The words are sung, full of magic passed on to me by my siren mother. She is sent on a mission to retrieve part of a hidden map- the key to a legendary and grand treasure trove. Everything her father desperately wants and she is desperate and prove herself to him. As part of her plan, she allows herself to be captured by an enemy ship- presenting the perfect opportunity to search the ship and find the map. There you go! That’s what happened in Daughter of the Pirate King, the first book in this series. Book 2, Daughter of the Siren Queen, comes out February 27, 2018. Draxen drops down in front of them. They are going to duel. As much as Alosa hates Draxen, she can’t help thinking of Riden. She asks her dad to let her take Draxen and the rest of his men captive so she can treat them like they treated her. She considers singing to him, but her powers have never worked on her father. She’s not sure why. He actually looks proud about her request and allows it. How did Daughter of the Pirate King end? Overall, tho, this was another great read!! 🤩🤩 would recommend this book & this series if you want:

Unfortunately, we did not have a pirate at the helm (hehehe). We had Alosa. And therefore our roster of activities looked a lot more like this: complimenting self, gazing lustily, telling not showing, thinking about the abstract concept of coming up with a plan but deciding not to, cutting scenes right when they get interesting, complimenting self more, and more, and more. Like I said: I love the main character Alosa. She is well-trained, intelligent and has a big mouth aka is a sassy badass. His hand goes to his throat and pulls out a leather cord hidden beneath his shirt. On the end is a glass vial, no bigger than my thumb, stoppered with a cork. And rolled up inside is the final map piece. With it, my father and I will finally travel to the siren island and claim its treasure. Daughter of the Siren Queen takes place a few months after the end of Daughter of the Pirate King, as Alosa and her crew, set sails towards Isla de Canta, the island of the mermaids. After betraying her father, Alose sees no other solution than to acquire a fortune big enough to defeat the Pirate King, and buy the loyalty of his men as a pirate is usually loyal to the richest. Here, I wait, watching my breath fog out in front of me in the slim moonlight. Though I could use the heat, I don’t dare risk the sound of my hands rubbing together. There is nothing for me to do now except to hold perfectly still. The narrowness of the hallway works to our advantage. The inn is rectangular, with rooms lining the edge of one side of the hallway and a railing on the other. Over the railing one can see clear down to the first floor. A stairwell zigzags up to each floor, the only way up or down except for the windows and the long drop to the bottom.

He’s one to talk. I may be three years shy of twenty, but I’d bet my sword arm I could best him in any challenge of wits or skill. His eyes fly open, and I press the knife in a little deeper, just enough to slice the skin but not enough to make him bleed. All of the characters are a bit plain and not really developed, but the fun I had while reading it definitely helped forgetting this. I can’t help myself. I laugh. Does he think he can make a reputation for himself by telling everyone how fearsome he is? I am me because I choose to be me. I am what I want. Some people say you have to find yourself. Not I. I believe we create ourselves to be what we want. Any aspect of ourselves that we do not like can be altered if we make an effort.” This is no book for people who love absolut perfect world building, detailed characters or beautiful different writing.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen? I loved the banter between Alosa and Riden. He's yummy, nothing like a yummy pirate. His brother, Draxen was a jerk though. Alosa as a pirate is something that you wouldn't want to cross on a bad day. She is not only loved, but respected beyond measure for her tenacity and will to win no matter what circumstances in which she might find herself. She also seems to grow quite a bit over the course of this book when she finds out more about her family and upbringing and a few things she didn't know as well. Her father might not be everything she thought he was, but cutting ties with him might be just what she needed to become everything she was meant to be. But freeing herself from the Pirate King is no easy task and it will take the whole crew to pull off this insane feat. If there is one crew who could manage it though, it would be that of the Ava Lee . I was addicted from the start. Mostly because I loved the main character and her sassy personality. The little boy,” I say, just as Vordan reaches underneath his pillow. For the dagger I’ve already removed. “Time to go, Sorinda.” However, this being said, it took me a LONG time to get through this. It wasn't really drawing me in. I didn't find anything super compelling about it. Men are the weaker gender, because you can make them do things for you, hypnotize them with the perfect image of their dream woman or see what they’re actually feeling Vordan is going to experiment on her to learn about sirens. He wants her to demonstrate her abilities on Riden. When she doesn’t cooperate, he’s cut or stabbed. It happens multiple times. Vordan learns about her power of song, her power to read emotions, and her power as a seductress. Vordan takes notes as she works through each phase so he can learn as much as possible about sirens before he gets to the island with the treasure which they guard. The romance was so forced, I hated it even more that I hated the characters. Alosa somehow barely knows Riden, but from the moment she met him, she was already in love *done with everything*
