Through optical connection, they can play Dolby Digital and DTS audio format. However, you naturally don't get as much flexibility as with the manufacturer's top options. As with most budget bars, there's no support for Dolby Atmos, so you can't take advantage of more immersive object-based formats often found on streaming services. Its surround sound performance is also pretty abysmal. Without discrete surrounds, it has to downmix this content into stereo to play it, which doesn't sound quite as immersive. That said, if you aren't much of a movie fan, it's a great fit. Ultimately, it still makes for a solid upgrade over your existing TV speakers at a wallet-friendly price.

However, since it doesn’t have height driver, its performance is poor, especially if we discussed its soundstage. The HW-Q60B may have two up-firing speaker, but they are not designed to reproduce height sound. And of course, although it can reproduce height sound, you will not get the real sense of the height sound. Nevertheless, ignoring its soundstage, height sound produced by the HW-Q60B is actually good. It may be not able to get very loud since at max volume, it can get around 80db SPL only. But sound produced is well balanced and it also has good total harmonic distortion. On the other hand, the LG S65Q doesn’t support Atmos. This means it cannot reproduce height sound.
Fortunately, the Q60B’s speakers avoid actual distortion even under the heaviest duress, dialogue tends to emerge surprisingly clear and clean despite the limited dynamic range and sound ‘projection’, and there’s also quite a lot of detail to be heard during good movie or TV show mixes, suggesting that while the speakers might not have enough room to breathe, they are at least sensitive and well constructed.

So, you can get the real sense when you are watching movies or playing games with 5.1 audio. Ignoring their soundstage, though, surround sound produced by the HW-Q60B is a bit better than LG S65Q. The S65Q may can get louder at max volume, which is around 95 dB SPL. The Samsung Q60B makes a good first impression on two counts. First, it’s much brighter than the majority of TVs we see in this price category. Bright enough, in fact, to handle high dynamic range sources with genuine conviction – by which we mean that bright scenes, at least, actually look like genuine HDR rather than just like something that’s a bit better than SDR.
The Q60B’s picture hardware is driven by a Quantum Processor 4K lite system that seems to be more or less on a par with the Crystal processor found in Samsung’s non Quantum Dot TVs. Certainly, it doesn’t appear to have any of the machine learning/AI elements you get higher up Samsung’s TV range, with Samsung’s blurb on it only really talking about improved upscaling of sub-4K content and the ability to automatically adjust the sound profile to suit different content types. Samsung soundbars offer a good, well-balanced, and neutral sound profile right out of the box, versatile for different uses. Thanks to their wireless subwoofer, some soundbars do have a bit of extra bass. Despite making a pleasing first impression with its design and some of the more aggressive aspects of its picture quality, in the end, Samsung’s attempt to make Quantum Dot technology more affordable doesn’t result in the budget hero we’d hoped for. The impact of its brightness with HDR footage can be felt in both the amount of full-screen brightness it can muster and the intensity it’s able to inject into small bright highlights – even if those highlights are within an already bright overall image. Overall, stereo performance of the Samsung HW-Q60B is better than the LG S65Q. The HW-Q60B has a bit wider range of frequency extension, which is between 40 Hz to 20 kHz while the range of frequency extension of the S65Q is between 50 Hz to 18.2 KHz. Additionally, with standard setting, the sound profile of the HW-Q60B is also more neutral than the S65Q that has a bit more heavy-bass sound profile. However, at the mids, they are equally quite balance, allowing them to reproduce clear and accurate vocal and lead instrument. Both also can produce a little extra boom on high-bass that will add some rumble to the sound. And to customize sound depending on your taste, both have some customization tools like EQ, Bass Adjustment, Treble Adjustment, etc.Meanwhile, for their HDMI ports, 1 port is for input while the other is shared for HDMI ARC and Output. The advantage of the HW-Q60B is that its HDMI ARC also support eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel). This allows it can play high quality audio format like Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS:X, Dolby True HD, DTS HD MA, and 5.1 PCM. Additionally, its HDMI in also support Audio format that supported by its HDMI ARC. On the other hand, the HDMI ARC of the LG S65Q doesn’t support eARC. This means, it cannot play high-quality audio and only can play what supported by its optical audio in, which are DTS and Dolby Digital.
