About this deal

She met her future husband, named Paul Robert Vincenzi (who was an advertising executive and the son of Dr. Julius Vincenzi of Earls Colne, Essex) at the age of nineteen. They had four daughters after marrying on May 27, 1960. He died in 2009 from a brain tumor.

When they go their separate ways, they vow to get together in London the following year. But many years pass before the three cross paths again, and the once-capricious, carefree girls now all have thriving careers. One of them, however, harbors a terrible secret: On her return from her pre-college excursion, she abandoned her just-born daughter at Heathrow. Gradually their privileged world darkens in rather unimaginable ways, however it isn’t only the twins whose lives have been irrevocably alter. Barty Miller, who was rescued out of the London slums when he was a baby by Celia Lytton, is ambitious, clever, and a complete contrast to these twins. She faces temptation of the most unexpected sort. She liked to create strong heroines because she envied their courage and could not imagine herself dominating a boardroom. Instead, according to friends and colleagues, Vincenzi won support through professionalism and the personal interest she took in the lives of those with whom she worked, whether they were the head of the company or an office assistant. One of the other characters in the book, Graydon Townsend, a journalist who begins investigating Bard in the hopes of getting a big story, was probably my favorite character. His own life is torn apart and he develops as a character as he investigates Bard.

Never a diva, she would keep scrupulously to deadlines and take editorial direction without complaint. The four editors with whom she worked over her career recalled her as fiercely loyal – she remained with her first editor, Rosie de Courcy, for 10 years in a formidable partnership. I felt like I was reading the 2nd book of a series, since there were many characters/relationships that aren't fully explained. The book improved as it went along, although I didn't feel it was as good as her "No Angel" trilogy. She does, however, grasp British society from 1900 through WWII extremely well and, if you enjoy reading about rich English people during that time period, you will like this book. Was it the best book ever? No, not a long shot. Was it an enjoyable read? Yes, if you like Penny Vincenzi. Her family, Headline and her agent Clare Alexander are sad to announce the death of their beloved Penny Vincenzi who died peacefully on February 25th.

Into Temptation: This is the third installment of the Lytton Family Trilogy; the novel focuses on Barty Miller and New York City. Rescued from the London slums as a baby, but now living in New York, Miss Miller now head over half of the Lytton publishing house. Now facing numerous bad times, the family is in doubt that Barty Miller will make a bad business decision that would cause devastating effects. As time passes, events gradually unfold, while deeply buried family secrets are surfaced which causes quakes to the root foundations of the Lytton’s family. I thought I'd read this, but now I'm not sure! I got so many and they all got mixed up when I moved and I had no system where 'these are read' and 'there are to be read', which makes things so confusing! Being UK’s bestselling author some of Penny Vincenzi have been nominated while others have won various awards. For instance, No Angel published in 2000 was announced the winner of 2003 RT Reviewers Choice Award under fictionalized Saga category. Subsequently, A Perfect Heritage, the latest novel by the author was nominated as 2015 Library Journal. BEST PENNY VINCENZI BOOKS

Her break as a novelist came when she was commissioned to interview Cooper. As she finished her questions, Vincenzi quipped: “I want to write this kind of nonsense too.” Cooper introduced Vincenzi to her agent, Desmond Elliott. Her debut novel, Old Sins, was cooked up over a long lunch with Elliott at Fortnum & Mason in 1988. It was bought by Anthony Cheetham at Century Hutchinson for a six-figure advance on the basis of the first three chapters and marked Vincenzi’s move from journalism, a career she had pursued since leaving a “ posh secretarial college in London” for Vogue nearly three decades before. Celia Lytton is the strong-willed and beautiful daughter of some wealthy aristocrats and she has grown accustomed of getting her own way. She moves through life making some tough and often dangerous choices that affect herself as well as others. This is an enthralling epic set in the mid-20th century describing the scenery extending from London to New York City giving some insights into British Legacy and aristocracy. The characters are well defined, with each forming its role accordingly, the plot flows nicely from the first chapter to the last. When Does The Next Penny Vincenzi book come out?
