About this deal

Scotland does welcome golfers throughout the year, however the golf courses tend to be in their best condition between May - September. May provides the best month for golf with the highest average hours of sunshine, combined with the lowest amount of rain. Another course the features in the GB & Ireland Top 100 list, Brora Golf Club is located in the Scottish Highlands, just north of Inverness. However, it’s the Ailsa course that is the stand out option having it’s own place in golfing history. It has played host to four Open Championships including the famous “Duel in the Sun”. A modern day links course, which encompasses wide fairways that make it playable for nearly all levels of golfers and so was great when playing with my friends of a mixed ability. One thing that strikes you playing it is the fantastic views from nearly all the holes, plus a large percentage of them are next to the water."

Muirfield is the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers and one of the finest links courses in the British Isles. Multiple Open Championships have been held at Muirfield with the tradition and history displayed throughout the clubhouse. Its location in Aviemore is a very good start to explaining why ‘The Boat’ is in front of some illustrious names. But a mountain setting alone couldn’t earn it that slot, and Boat of Garten is also home to a selection of fun holes and terrific green complexes. Varied and never, ever dull. It suffers a small fall here for its less consistent presentation of late. 36. Murcar Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire – DOWN 1

Scotland is renowned for its stunning golf courses, with the country boasting a rich history and a diverse range of options for golf enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting out, Scotland offers a golfing experience like no other. In this article, we will take a closer look at the golf map of Scotland and highlight some of the top courses to explore.

The next stage was to go through every one of the courses on Alan’s list to see whether they should make the cut for the final map. Quite a few had closed since Alan had played, so that was an easy decision. Others were courses played only by the owners of private estates. Alan had managed to get onto these as part of a charity quest but they weren’t looking for anyone else to visit so I excluded them too. A day at Muirfield is the best day I've ever had on the golf course. The traditions and history of the game are evident throughout the clubhouse and the "simple" design you see on the course feels utterly unique and effective." Ladybank Golf Club is located in Fife, Scotland, less than 20 miles from St. Andrews. For that reason, the club is often overshadowed by the main jewels in the county. But it really shouldn’t be overlooked! To summarize, the Old Course at St Andrews Golf Course is located in the town of St Andrews, which is in the region of Fife on the east coast of Scotland. Where Does Donald Trump Have A Golf Course In Scotland? Creative shot-making and strategic thinking are required on every hole. The setting is fabulous, it is beautifully presented, loads of fun, and it’s now categorically one of Scotland’s best links. 18. Machrihanish Campbeltown, Argyll – NO CHANGE This playable Islay links is island golf at its finest, DJ Russell’s enhancements are wonderful,” says one panelist. Our luxury golf lodges have been custom-designed with golfers in mind, with a number of the lodges clustered around three practice putting greens, making it easy to hone your skills whilst also enjoying the comforts of the lodges.

We asked Rob to name his favourite course in Scotland. But, he told us it was an almost impossible question to succinctly answer and stand firm with, due to the multitude of factors! When Val received my scribblings she plotted them onto the digital map. There was clearly going to be an issue in the central belt of Scotland - around Glasgow and Edinburgh. There are a lot of courses in these areas meaning some creativity was needed to fit them all in. We managed to acheive this with a combination of two insets and some font size chicanery. There is plenty of elevation change, so you will definitely feel the walk in your legs when you finish, but you will have some great memories as well. Arguably one of the most underrated top-rated golf courses. I don't know anyone who has played here who hasn't put it amongst their Top 10 Courses they've played." The town of St Andrews is known for its rich history and is often referred to as the “home of golf.”Kingsbarns curves perfectly along the Fife coast, the varying elevations provide spectacular views of the North Sea from every hole. Only 6 miles from St Andrews, Kingsbarns is a fitting addition to the Home of Golf. Golfing nirvana. It may be outdated for Bryson, but it’s not outdated for us. It’s no surprise that our No.1 course in the world, No.1 golf course in Britain (and the best in Fife) is also our best golf course in Scotland. The course is the most northerly on the British mainland and certainly an effort to get to, however with the recent popularity of the North Coast 500 route, I am sure the course is seeing more and more visitors. The course is a blast with the rugged terrain and difficult conditions only being magnified by the usual winds. Alongside the Balcomie Links, the club has a second course, Craighead Links course. Together they make Crail a true gem of Scottish links golf and is a must-play for any golfer visiting the area. 12. Brora Golf Club

I was quite keen to include a journey time guide - so if you were trying to get from Troon to Dornoch in a day you would know what you were letting yourself in for! A couple of hours on Google maps was time well spent and Val produced a lovely looking table that sits at the side of the map.I left Elgin wishing more clubs had the same approach: a bustling membership of mixed abilities a busy clubhouse, a friendly team. However I know it is a challenge, the economics of running your average club is getting harder and harder. The approach here was excellent though and I wish them well, they are definitely making the best of their lot. 9. Kilspindie Golf Club
