A few Golden Dragons fly around Lloyd's head after he slams into a pillar in Garmadon's monastery in " The Art of the Silent Fist," which is a play on the common animation trope often involving birds or stars circling around a character's head to indicate a temporary head injury. The dragon is billed as being the largest yet, I’m not sure if this is in terms of scale or piece count. But it certainly doesn’t feel extensionally bigger than some of the other similar dragons from past NINJAGO sets. In fact, this isn’t the first time we’ve had a dragon with multiple heads either. Regardless of the exact status of the dragons in the NINJAGO league table, it’s certainly a bulky creature, especially with the opening wings and long tail. The joints in this set are welcome. Between the three joint pieces you highlight here, there's been an abundance of new joints for larger mechs or creature builds this year. Perhaps worth mentioning that the red recolor you highlight is not unique to this set, having come in the Optimus Prime set earlier in the year as well. Presumably, after the Golden Power was lost, leaving Lloyd with his innate Energy powers instead, the Golden Dragon was similarly "downgraded" to the Energy Dragon.
My favorite new element must be the minions head. Ever since I first saw the Pyro minions in the 2019 wave of Ninjago sets, I've been in love with dual molded elements using transparent colours. It’s just so beautiful how the light comes through, bringing life to the figure’s eyes. Side-note: There might be earlier examples of dual molded transparent elements, but the Pyro was the first I encountered myself. Each of the ninja represented by dragons are featured including Kai, Cole, Zan and Jay. With each of them wearing their Golden Ninja suits. These are similar to their standard robes but feature far more gold trim and their hoods are largely gold as well. Each of them appears in other sets in this wave. The similar minifigures continue with the Vengestone Army, three soldiers are included as with all the Vengestone recruits, they all use the same dragon-like head, with only slight differences in the torso print and weapons. Interestingly, the instructions don’t include that shoulder armor – and neither does the rest of the box. Every other time the Brutes appear, they’re “naked.” Which is a bummer – without the armor they’re almost indistinguishable from the Warriors. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even realize there were two different types until I was mid-way through writing this review. The minions feature a new mold as a head/mask: Minifig Head Special Dragon Helmet with Trans-Dark Pink Eyes, Teeth, Mohawk Mold Pattern in Titanium Metallic/ Pearl Dark Gray (6376235). I simply love the dual mold with transparent Pink. It makes the fig really come to life in the right light. The legs are beautiful as well. It’s the 2nd time we’ve seen Trans-Dark Pink legs: Odd Legs, Dark Purple Hips, Pearl Dark Gray Left Leg, Trans-Dark Pink Right Leg in Transparent Medium Reddish Violet/ Trans-Dark Pink (6385352).
