About this deal

All of the touch points are also well executed, from the comfortable handle that stays cool to the touch to the soft open lid and non-drip spout. It also comes with a polishing cloth included to buff away any fingerprints its stainless steel body might collect. This kettle also offers the ability to heat water to five different temperatures – 40, 75, 85, 95 and 100°C – which is great if you’re a coffee or herbal tea aficionado who knows the exact best degree centigrade for your brew. We didn’t notice the kettle being unusually quiet, despite it boasting the Quiet Mark, but it certainly wasn’t especially loud. Filters that reduce limescale are invaluable if you live in a hard-water area and don’t want to be descaling your kettle on a regular basis.

There's also the AWS, which is the one I tested. This is similar to the NewGen but it doesn't have the bagel setting. I was really chuffed with how my toast came out. It was very evenly toasted across the slice, with no parts left un-toasted due to how deep the slots are. The slots are also very wide, and I've had no issues toasting big hunks of bread. And it’s solidly made, although as a result it weighs 1.3kg (jug only) so it’s fairly heavy in the hand.Out of the nearly 20 kettles she tested in one day (there was a lot of tea), these were the 10 that made the final cut. Her favourite was the KitchenAid Temperature Control Kettle, which has the sleekest look and features out there. FAQs When's the best time to buy a kettle? The Aarke Kettle is an investment, but, just like all Aarke products, it’s beautifully designed. Its seamless stainless steel body will create a stylish focal point on a countertop, and its slim build and small footprint mean it’s a useful addition to a smaller kitchen. For the price we also weren’t fans of the lid. You open it manually by finger-pulling the loop handle on the top. It’s built to last, sure, but it’s hard to open and is certainly no fun to open when hot. Simply press the lever on the base to switch between heat settings and a digital beep will alert you when the temperature is reached and the kettle will automatically shut off. (A long press of the base lever also turns off the beep if you prefer to start your mornings in silence). There’s a water level indicator on each side – one in litres, the other in cups. And the limescale filter is made from fine-cut metal rather than a mesh, making it much more durable than most.

If the element of either the kettle or the toaster goes for example (which is the most regular thing to break), it can be easily replaced rather than having to replace the whole thing.' Finally there's the Vario, which has a red switch to select the number of slots you want to control. The Classic kettle can be paired perfectly with the accompanying toaster for a truly put together look. The Classic Toaster from Dualit is a Combi with three slots, sure to be a timesaver on rushed mornings. The striking look in your kitchen is only matched by the performance of this kettle. With the Pure Pour spout, there's no water dripping out of the kettle on to your worktops. However, there are some down points to remember. As the casing is stainless steel, while it may look great it does get incredibly hot to the touch once boiled. It has also been noted that the kettle takes quite a while to boil, taking almost four minutes with a full load. Dualit Kitchen Appliances UK

Top of our must-have list is that it’s easy is it to hold, fill and pour. If you often refill a kettle as soon as it has boiled, choose one with a flip-top lid you don’t have to take off manually. This is really important to avoid the risk of scalding yourself on steam when you open it. The spout is well designed. It’s focussed, pouring brilliantly with no spills whether you pour slow or fast.

Founder Tara Button was inspired to create Buy Me Once after receiving a Le Creuset cast iron pot as a gift. It was a beautifully made, solid product covered by a lifetime guarantee; Tara asked herself why everything she owned wasn’t designed to last. Filling the Dualit isn’t a great experience. As mentioned above, the spout is small but lifting the lid is a faff. Maybe. It’s good but very expensive for a basic kettle. So the only reason you’d chose it over others is the looks – you love the styling and/or it matches your other Dualit appliances perfectly. To calculate the average price, we add up the cheapest daily prices of the last 90 days and divide by 90.The Dualit also boasts a repairable element, which means that it could last a lifetime with new elements from time to time, rather than wastefully scrapping it after a few years as people do with other kettles when they fail. If you look, you can even see that the toaster is put together with a regular Philips-head screw whereas most other toasters are designed so you can’t get into them to fix them safely. This is what commitment to the environment looks like in practice. The idea is probably that you should fill the kettle via the spout instead, but the spout is fairly small so using the lid would have been easier.

The Dualit is unsurprisingly a well-built machine. It’s attractive in a polished chrome finish that somehow manages to repel fingerprints. The control is a simple switch near the base with a red light that comes on to indicate that it’s heating up.The Russell Hobbs Emma Bridgewater Kettle is the quietest one we tested. It heats and boils virtually silently, which means you're unlikely to be disturbed if it's used when you're in a call or early in the morning. It's also a treat to look at, with a retro-contemporary design that comes in either a multi-coloured polka dot or a love heart pattern. There's also a matching toaster available, which we really enjoyed testing. The spout of this kettle makes pouring a treat, and the overhead handle is easy to hold and tactile. It took a pretty average 2m34s to boil a litre of water that started out at 14⁰C from the tap. We measured the temperature after 10 mins (86⁰C) and again after 30 mins (73⁰C), which are a bit warmer than most – this is a kettle that holds its heat fairly well.
