About this deal

Laundry Soap– I still make my own most of the timebut will buy BioKlean liquid laundry soapor Ecover zero if I’m pressed for time or traveling. The other part of the story about why I don’t exclusively use DIY cleaners anymore is because of time. I have (almost) six kids and a dog, and a house, homeschooling, and a blog, and even a couple of friends. I wouldn’t trade any of those things for the world, but to keep all of them happy and healthy requires time. Please note that any product containing water needs a preservative to inhibit the growth of mould and bacteria. I use Optiphen Plus, a natural paraben-free preservative, in the easy homemade cleaning recipes. Conclusion

If you can substitute Sal Suds with castile soap depends on the recipe. In some recipes, it may be possible to swap Sal Suds with castile soap and achieve a similar effect. But in other recipes, a substitution may lead to very different results. Can I use Sal Suds as soap or in personal care products? All Purpose Cleaner:Dilute 1 teaspoon of sal suds concentrate into a spray bottle (at least 16 ounces) on all hard surfaces in our house. (Homemade option: this all-purpose cleaner recipe) Face and Body Wash: Combined with raw honey and water, liquid castile soap makes a great face and body wash.Tbsp. (7.g mL) Sal Suds in 3 gallons (12 L) of water for exterior. Use All-Purpose Spray on interior surfaces and leather seats. Wipe with damp cloth. In cleaning solution chamber, fill with water and add 1 drop of Sal Suds. Add 1 cup (240 mL) vinegar to rinse water (optional). Use All-Purpose Spray on carpet spots (use sparingly). Carpet Cleaning: To clean carpet naturallyI pre-treat stains with a 1:10 dilution of Sal Suds in water and then use 1 drop of the concentrate in a steam cleaner ( full tutorial here). Stainless Steel Appliances & Sink: Spray appliance with All-Purpose Spray. Wipe with a soft damp cloth in the direction of the grain. Spray sink and sprinkle with baking soda from a shaker. Scrub then rinse. Grout Cleaner: I use a 1:3 Sal Suds dilution to clean tile groutor use homemade scouring powder or Bon Ami for tough stains.

Dish Soap: As a natural dish soapI dilute 1/4 cup sal suds in a 16-ounce foamer bottle. (Pre-made option: EcoMe DishSoap)Add 1 drop Sal Suds mixed with water into the solution compartment. Because it’s biodegradable, it won’t harm landscaping. Additional Uses

For best results, empty toilet. Spray bowl thoroughly with All-Purpose Spray, or sprinkle 2-3 drops of Sal Suds directly on toilet brush. Sprinkle baking soda on a brush, scrub bowl. Let sit 10 minutes. Turn water on. Flush. Sal Suds has a texture similar to thin liquid soap or shower gel. Sal Suds vs castile soap – Is Sal Suds castile soap? It is meant to clean objects – like clothes, the kitchen, bathrooms, cars, etc. Cost Comparison Between the Two Recipes Hydrophilic literally means “water ( hydro) loving ( philic).” This end of the surfactant molecule grabs hold of water. On the other side, hydrophobic means “water ( hydro) fearing ( phobic).” A little exaggerated perhaps, but this end grabs the oil. By the way, this post isn’t sponsored. Some readers wanted to know more about Sal Suds. So I decided to write a post explaining what Sal suds is, and how to use it to formulate homemade natural cleaners.

Sal Suds, Sal Suds, How do I love thee?

Artificial Fragrances– contain phthalates and formaldehyde and cause endocrine disruption and irritate the respiratory system Phosphates help balance the detergents' pH and chelate minerals found in hard water like lime and magnesium. They make laundry detergents more effective, BUT they are very harmful to humans and wildlife. Exposure to phosphates in humans is linked to cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and even death!
