About this deal

Both of the devices that make up this range of equipment are powered by an internal battery. The transmitter unit uses a 9V alkaline type battery, whereas the sounder beacon receiver uses a 3.6V AA lithium battery as a power source. This means that there is no need to provide a mains power supply to this system. This saves time and costs in the installation of the system. The system monitors the batteries to ensure there is enough power in them to maintain an operational system. When the battery levels are getting low the receiver unit will beep to indicate that the batteries require changing. DDA Wireless Disabled Toilet Alarm System NC943B includes an onboard 500mA rechargeable standby battery that will power the system for up to 24 hours standby and 15 minutes alarm running time. It is a requirement to provide compliance to the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act). This product helps comply with this act by providing an emergency call signalling system from a disabled toilet.

In a typical disabled toilet alarm kit you'd expect to find a red ceiling pull cord with two bangles, a reset button with an integrated sounder and an external indicator with a sounder or combination sounder/flasher. Once assistance has been provided, the Alarm call is cancelled from inside the WC by pressing the ‘RESET’ button on the NC809DBBT Reset Point c/w Sounder The red reassurance LED and sounder on the NC809DBBT Reset Point c/w Sounder activate intermittently (approx 1 second on, 5 seconds off) to let the user know help is on the way. The member of staff responding to the Alarm call presses the ‘Call Accept’ button on the Call Controller.

Also, as well as sounding, the alarm should also have a light on it, to show the operator that the alarm has been successfully activated. A light coming on is essential for those who are deaf and additionally, the alarm must sound for those who are visually impaired, so that they can be sure that the alarm has indeed been triggered. To operate, the user pulls the cord of the ceiling pull unit, which features triangular bangles for easy use by the infirm, and activates a light and sounder outside the room to raise the alarm. Disabled toilet emergency alarms are recommended in workplaces, shops, schools, leisure centres, hotels, museums, theatres, and other public buildings by the Disability Discrimination Act.

Hoyles Disabled Toilet Alarm Kits are supplied complete with Aidalarm controller, ceiling pull cord, reset button, overdoor light and sounder and instruction label with braille text. All our systems provide audible and visible recognition of the sounding of the alarm to give the caller re-assurance that help is at hand and on the way. The reset button should be suitably located, so that it can be reached by anyone using a wheelchair. NC807C & NC809DBBT have red Reassurance LEDs; NC806CS has twin red Alarm LEDs. NC943B has a red Alarm and green Supply Present LED;The red reassurance LED on the NC807C Ceiling/Wall Pull Unit and the red reassurance LED and sounder on the NC809DBBT Reset Point c/w Sounder activate steady to reassure the user the call has been registered. We also have an attractive stainless steel disabled toilet alarm which perfectly combines design and function. The position of these disabled toilet alarm components is very important to allow the alarm to be used effectively. For example, the bangles on the alarm pull cord should be spaced very specifically at 100mm from the floor and 800-1000mm from the floor – this allows either bangle to be reached in an emergency whether the occupant is sitting on the convenience or lying on the floor.
