The implementation of the project teams working alongside the Liberian Youth Parliament for Water (LRYPW) is now officially complete, and we are immensely proud to share the accomplishments that have been achieved. "That means teaching others what I know, connecting people and building teams where I can, and being an open book with all my resources, with the assumption that empowering others is more impactful that just doing what I can alone." You want to foster a community of people who are interested in and dedicated to the same mission you’re after. The product is not yet available to the public, and is still undergoing research. But the early results are promising, and we’re excited to see what becomes of it. How Can I Get Involved in Design for Good?

In the second lesson, you’ll learn about the science and importance of color. You’ll gain a better understanding of color modes, color schemes and color systems. You’ll also learn how to confidently use color by understanding its cultural symbolism and context of use. Training materials on menstruation to break stigma, practice good hygiene and instil body confidence, both for the audience and the facilitator. We discussed that many of us in the creative industries have been involved in 2-3 day design sprints for social good, that generate tremendous energy, but sadly do not always lead to real world impact in the long-term. By doing this together, we can supercharge the design for good movement in the years ahead, and help to make meaningful change. These days good charities need to view themselves more as businesses with a social objective. They need to generate income that they invest into the cause as well as building their brands and growing their people, says Hubbard. "Part of that investment in their brands is paying their partners, and although we might work at a reduced fee, we generally don’t work pro bono.” One of our flagship innovations is the Sabal project — an exciting endeavour aimed at empowering women and girls in underserved Indian communities to take control of their sanitation. The Sabal project introduces a "Make Your Own Toilet" kit that empowers women and girls to set up a temporary toilet at home or safely use existing shared outdoor facilities. The comprehensive DIY kit includes various items, most of which can be produced at home using readily available materials and easy-to-follow instructions. The Sabal project also aims to offer education, training on safe toilet use, a helpline for guidance, and business support to create an ecosystem for sustained kit use.A group of friends who have worked on advertising projects together in the past, including Vodafone and News International, the team were inspired by the idea of virtual reality. "We began to wonder if such an immersive experience as VR could help people with dementia to remember parts of their lives – and if the experience might help trigger conversations with their loved ones and carers," reveals Cole. Design Gigs for Good is a free community-driven resource to help more people use the tools of design to create positive social change. They provide a free job board full of opportunities at the intersection of design and social impact. You can also join their public, international community for people using design to change the world. Think about appealing to the 5 senses People who choose to design for good aren’t doing it for the money—they’re doing it because they believe in a nonprofit’s mission. You want to attract skilled people who know what they’re doing. You need strong employees to make an impact, and branding can help you prove you’re worth believing in and worth dedicating time to. The bottom line: having a strong team and making the impact you desire, is easier when your organization looks professional. 2. It elevates your mission statement into a brand Nothing must be arbitrary or left to chance. Care and accuracy in the design process show respect towards the user. Good design is environmentally friendly.
