About this deal

For the most part, I also loved the secondary cast. James’ family were particularly lovable (not his father), making it a no brainer for me to want to continue reading this series, with each sequel featuring another of the Callahan kids meeting their romantic match. i don’t know what i was expecting from this book…but it certainly wasn’t what i got. i came to this book for it to be a pass-time. something trashy. something i planned on only reading half of because i’d get bored…however, this surprised me. it was actually pretty good. Before bedtime: Many people find that reading before bedtime helps them unwind and relax, which can promote better sleep.

She’s the drop-dead gorgeous astrophysicist-in-training who ditched me the moment I wanted to take us from casual to committed. Yeah. Ouch. But when she needs somewhere to stay for the summer… well. I offer her my place. Early morning: Some people find that reading in the morning helps them start their day with a positive and productive mindset. She’s my coach’s daughter, but from the moment she grabs me on the ice rink, she’s the only thing on my mind. She wants me to introduce her to all the things she’s been dying to experience in the bedroom. If I say yes, I’ll be relaxed on the ice again – but if her dad finds out, I can kiss any chance of being captain goodbye. The romance was a great mix of fluffy and spicy. It was hot and sweet and genuine. The third act conflict was believable and I was happy with how everything resolved. It felt like the characters actually worked through things and didn’t just gloss over it. Bex and James were a perfect fit.Cooper was just such a lovable character. So sweet, patient and understanding. The best dirty talker, and he was just such a lovable dork. Penny was also such a fiery fmc, loved how she handled her path to recovery from her past, and she was both funny and supportive. This book is so different from the first two books, for the best of reasons. I can feel Grace’s love and passion in this story and it definitely showed from all the tears I shed. It’s beautiful, relatable, covers hard topics and overall just made me stupidly happy. So excited to see what Grace cooks up next! when i originally read first down, i loved cooper and sebastian (maybe even a little more so than i even loved james.) they both had these winner personalities and were incredibly funny each and every time they were mentioned in the book (as well as post-grad: the extended epilogue) cooper, specifically, has such a charming personality. he was caring, funny, flirtatious, nerdy, and knew his boundaries. that man had a heart of gold. his energy matches penny's incredibly well. cooper was very passionate about everything: including penny (and lord of the rings, but mostly penny) the way cooper was completely on board with sharing her interests and taking a deep dive crash course into penelope ryder was absolutely heartwarming. Sweet, sweet Sebastian. I liked the internal conflict he had throughout the book of baseball vs cooking. I liked how he was self aware enough to go after what he wanted in life. What I didn’t like was how his “golden retriever” personality was portrayed. You can be a sweet guy without being, sorry, pathetic. And the pining he had for Mia was honestly pathetic. They had zero chemistry and we just didn’t get to see their relationship grow in a way I wish it would have. He was happy to accept crumbs from her and she just wasn’t worth it. I felt like he was constantly censoring himself around her or changing himself just to hold onto her when she gave nothing in return. Oh his sister in law is pregnant? How exciting! Oh wait, Mia makes the entire thing about her. Unsurprised.

Thanks to the ex from hell, I’m a long way from being ready for a relationship – but it’s finally time to reclaim my agency, one sexual experience at a time. First of all, thank you Grace for trusting me to read your book while you wrote it. (Yes, I read this book multiple times LOL) Girlfriend, you are something else! I’m so glad to connect with you through bookstagram. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated that the conflict at the end was not a third act breakup and really, that there was no breakup at all. Our characters were pretty mature and whenever I thought we were reaching a situation that would normally result in some kind of relationship ending miscommunication, they handled it extremely well and not at all how I normally expect them to. It was refreshing and still kept the story interesting and compelling despite not having that unnecessary drama. Here’s another new author I haven’t seen mentioned here, so I wanted to share! This is the second book in a series called “Beyond the Play” and I absolutely loved this one! There’s two books so far, and I believe there will be 4 total (it’s about 4 siblings). I also read the first book, First Down, which is about the football player oldest brother, and while I wasn’t bored reading it, there are issues lol. That can be another discussion. James Callahan. Enough said. He has my heart. He was so cute and just impossible to not fall for. His love for Bex was adorable, he was all-in from the start and wasn’t afraid to share his feelings.Penny was also a great fmc. She was not as frustrating as Bex was (if at all). I loved how she took charge of her sexuality and her path to recovery from her past. She was funny, generous, and just an overall relatable character that really resonated with me. She reminded me a bit of Jennie from Play With Me who I also adored. As a bisexual woman, I love all different types of bisexual representation. What I don’t like, is when an author’s ONLY bisexual female main character in the series (and possibly in the author’s entire body of work) is a walking hypersexual trope that will have sex with everyone and still has sex with anybody and everybody under the sun AFTER starting something with their destined partner (the MMC in this case). Also, it’s a problem when (if I remember correctly) the only hypersexual, commitment-phobe, female main character from the author is bisexual. This is the third book in the Beyond The Play Book series, that just keeps getting better. We meet Sebastian and Mia throughout the series and I loved getting to know this passionate pair so much! I appreciated that they were still young enough to be making plenty of mistakes in trying to work out who they are and what they want from life, but they were old enough (maybe 22ish?) to have their new relationship feel like it could definitely stand the test of time if they were committed enough and communicated appropriately—which I think they were doing well by the stories end. As for the drama that pushed the narrative along, well, I could take or leave some of it, but for the most part I liked that Bex and James stayed true to themselves, facing most of their trials and tribulations together as a unit… even when I didn’t quite agree with their behaviour or decisions.

It’s my final season to prove myself before the MLB Draft. The last thing I need is a distraction–and especially not one as tantalizing as Mia di Angelo. I should be focusing on my game–not on falling for my gorgeous, grumpy roommate… especially since she’s already left me once.Overall, I’m disappointed. Will I read Izzy’s book? For sure. Her little cameos were one of the good parts of this book. (Oh, I almost forgot how Mia judged Izzy for the majority of the book because she had an “easy” life. Sure okay Mia.) I also lived for the Cooper and Penny cameos. But other than that, I found myself angry and irritated while reading this book. I wanted to DNF but I was too far in so I just powered through. I’m so tired of these unlikable characters and unnecessary conflicts that could truly be solved with some communication and trust. Similarly to the first book in this series, the ending was rushed. The pacing was off and everything was neatly wrapped together in less than 3 chapters. Even though her family showed up in the end, the resolution just wasn’t there. She got to say her piece (a little) but I was left wanting more. For her family dynamics being her biggest struggle in the book, we should have seen more. Even with her Lab partner, Alice. One little exchange in the bathroom wasn’t enough. For someone who had no problem treating her boyfriend and best friend poorly, she sure was nice and complacent with the “villians” of the book.
