About this deal

Similarly, the artwork feels a lot more consistent this time around. The boards and cards play host to a painterly style and gorgeous blend of colors that really pop off the table. It feels more like what we've come to expect from the Villainous series. A board game themed specifically around those incredible mutants, X-Men: Mutant Insurrection has players experiencing a series of scenarios inspired by classic storylines from the comics, including the Dark Phoenix saga and Hellfire Club. Featuring a gathering of all the usual mutant suspects, such as Wolverine and Rogue, as well as some more unlikely characters like Jubilee and Domino, Mutant Insurrection is based on the formula established by Elder Sign, but injects things with a distinctly Marvel twist.

If Thanos obtains all the stones he wins, if the Avengers can team up and take down his minions the Avengers save the day. Do you think you have what it takes to stop Thanos in his quest to balance the universe? Components In the very centre of the board sits what has to possibly be the coolest part of the game – the hat and umbrella spinner. Pure class, and designed so that each time you spin it you get two numbers, one from the tip of the umbrella and one from the handle. If you're not familiar with the original strategy board game, Marvel Villainous lets you take control of comics' nastiest ne'er do wells in an effort to complete their objectives. Thanos must gather the Infinity Stones, for example, while Killmonger has to send out bombs to other players' boards. Because each character has their own unique goal, that means you'll need to scupper your opponents' plans in an effort to reach victory first. It was a cool idea when Villainous first came out a few years ago, and it's a cool idea now.Players can choose to play either standalone battles against one another or in an overarching campaign that’s made up of multiple sessions. Choosing the campaign will allow players to improve their heroes and villains’ abilities between battles, imbuing the whole experience with a sense of progression. For a dungeon-crawler with great Marvel characters and fun gameplay mechanics, you could do worse than Marvel: Strike Teams. No matter who you choose to play as, each character is united by rather handsome movers. I can't put my finger on why, but they feel much nicer than the original Marvel Villainous equivalents.

With Marvel being more popular than it’s ever been before, now’s the time to lure your friends into playing board games with you via the appeal of their favourite MCU characters. How could they resist a board game with Captain America and The Hulk, that also happens to be really great, too? To give you some ideas to indulge your love of the comics, films and TV shows, here’s our list of the best Marvel board games.

With every component for each villain carefully themed to fit their aesthetic - from the player pieces to the player boards - and the mechanics shifting to align with their tactical approach, the amount of care that’s been put into Marvel Villainous is really impressive and wonderful to see. Marvel Dice Masters is a series of dice-rolling games in which various superheroes from the comics universe have been shrunken down into an adorable little die. All joking aside, Marvel Dice Masters comes from the minds of the co-designers of Quarriors!, which is a great dice game in its own right, and offers a surprising amount of depth. If you’ve ever fancied having a small plastic figure of Thanos to play a tabletop game around - that isn’t one of the many, many Funko Pops - then this one is definitely for you. Thanos Rising: Avengers Infinity War is a co-op game centred around the Mad Titan himself and, more specifically, about the need to stop him before he’s able to enact his master plan of collecting all the Infinity Stones and performing that dreaded finger-snap. You add a damage counter to each hero as necessary. Once a hero has received its last damage token it is removed from the game and if it was in a sector a new card is drawn. Also, Thanos will trigger the ability of any of the villains that are in the sector he is facing. It may cause the Infinity Stone dice to be rolled a second time or it can trigger the abilities of all the villains not in Thanos’s current sector. The artwork on the Thanos Rising cards is very nice. It is not straight images from the movies and although you can clearly see the actors that portray the characters it has a nice hand drawn style whilst still being very detailed. The centre boards are very nice and give you this inky darkness of deep space allowing all the components to really pop and set the table ablaze with colour and shapes. Final Thoughts on Thanos Rising

Based on the formula laid down by Disney Villainous, Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power ditches animated antagonists in favour of the baddies found across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With almost every other entry on this list being about playing the hero, it makes a nice change of pace to be able to indulge your darker side. Even though the original game was hardly what you'd call a failure, Marvel Villainous: Mischief and Malice works to patch up any holes. Namely, it smooths out Events and offers slightly nicer movers with a more premium feel.A dungeon-crawler game where players can recreate some classic Marvel battles The detailed miniatures help to immerse players into the world of Marvel: Strike Teams.

A co-op board game that has players protecting humanity as a team of mutant characters The standees and art-style in Mutant Insurrection make it a love letter to the X-Men comic series. Due to the popularity of the original game, there are many, many different versions of Love Letter out there, including one featuring Batman characters from Marvel’s rival comics company: DC. Most of these are simple re-themes that keep most of the gameplay mechanics from the base game, but with one or two extra elements like characters from a known property or roles with abilities unique to that version. It’s an undeniable fact that one of the most popular aspects of the Marvel comics and films are the epic battles between the superheroes and their dreaded nemesis. There’s a reason why, love it or hate it, pretty much every entry in the MCU has to end with a CGI-filled action scene, and Marvel: Strike Teams knows that too. A dungeon-crawling game for two people, Marvel: Strike Teams enables players to recreate or envision big Marvel battles of their own.

Wow! It really just added some great elements to one of the longest board game there could possibly be. The infinity gauntlet spaces work perfectly and make this a far better monopoly than the many I have. Also, the children of Thanos spaces are truly a hit; they made tension and (more) excitement part of the game. However, two factors that take this down a little bit (not enough to give it 4 stars) is that there are way too many tokens when the game is specifically designed for 6 players and there are twice that number, which could have really been fun if expanded on that idea just like Super Mario Party did with the allies, they became an instant hit and a more than welcome addition. The other factor is that unlike the Game of Thrones and Star Wars Edition monopolys the hotels and houses are not customized to fit with this edition which takes away a little of the immersion into the Avenger’s world that the game clearly tries to recreate, and successes on it; for the most part. A twist on the beloved deduction card game that’s more than just a different theme As it is in the original Love letter game, each card in Infinity Gauntlet has a different power. The Events hit home more effectively this time as well. They're not perfect by any means (some can reduce Loki or M.O.D.O.K's score to the lowest amount, which is a bit harsh - particularly if you're close to winning) but they don't seem quite as punishing as they could be before. USAopoly did a really nice job with Thanos Rising, producing a game that people won’t be able to walk past whilst its being played without stopping to have a closer look. The Thanos figure is a very nice sculpt and has an acceptable paint job on it. I would imagine that the miniature painters out there could turn this very nice miniature it to a really stunning centrepiece with the right skills. Designed for 2 to 4 players, each player has three Avengers – Steed, Gambit and Purdey – and they start the game on the allocated coloured spaces in the centre of the playing board.
