The Sallis butler is heard imitating the calls of birds as he feeds them. As Hangfire, he uses this skill to mimic people's voices. Hector from The Vile Village is met in the final chapter as a twelve year old, and is already performing ballooning projects. His liking of Mexican food is also mentioned. Stanza 2/7, sent on 14 November 2012, included the second image below. City with No Name: Sort of; the majority of the plot takes places at Stain'd-by-the-Sea, but the city that Lemony came from and often refers to is never named. Kindly Vet: Oliver Sobol, from one of the stories in File Under 13 Suspicious Incidents. Considering that he's also pre-teen, and is remaining in town only until his parents (the actual vets) find a new place to live somewhere else, he's also a Closest Thing We Got.Half-Identical Twins: In 13 Suspicious Incidents, the Cozy twins look alike enough to be mistaken for each other despite being different sexes. Hector says at the end of the book, "Monty's worried". This is most likely a reference to Montgomery Montgomery. He also mentions a "Haruki" being worried, which is also the name of a patient in The Hostile Hospital, possibly confirming her membership in V.F.D.
Every time Lemony as the narrator mentions he should have done something different in a scene, that's a good sign that at the moment something suspicious is going on. Count Olaf says this in the second episode. This is a reference to the title of the second book in the All the Wrong Questions series which is titled When Did You See Her Last? The missing person in that book is a chemist named Chloe Knight, famous for developing invisible ink.Ellington Feint: a mysterious girl with green eyes and a love of coffee. She wants the Bombinating Beast so that she can trade it with Hangfire in return for her father, Armstrong. The Butler Did It: Subverted. He's the mastermind, but he's not really a butler and he didn't do it personally, as Lemony points out. Hangfire is revealed to be Ellington Feint's father. The Bombinating Beast is revealed to be a real creature when LS blows through the statue of the BB and summons the monster. LS reveals that Hangfire has been breading the BB and that there may be many of them out there now.
