Set a couple of years later of the events of Salem’s Lot, in a bar, two men decided to venture into a deadly blizzard to try to save a family stranded just in the middle of the dreadful Jerusalem’s Lot village. The themes around toxic masculinity, stalking and rape are important and this story highlights them cunningly. The idea of psychological rape is complex, and I hope King expands on this in later works. The ending is a feminist triumph.An assassin recently killed a toy corporation owner? And now he’s received a box of homicidal toy soldiers? Is this a joke?! The ending is the best in Night Shift. The Ledge is vindictive and satisfactory. If you liked the scene in 1408, where the MC is out on the ledge, you will enjoy this. L'ultima cosa che Harold Parkette vide fu la sogghignante griglia della falciatrice lanciata alla carica, che si sollevava per mostrare le sue lame lucenti e macchiate di verde, e al disopra di quella il grasso faccione dell'uomo della falciatrice, che scuoteva la testa con fare di bonario rimprovero. Che piacere, per me, mettere piede nell'entrata gelida e piena di correnti d'aria, qui a Chapelwaite, con tutte le ossa doloranti per colpa di quell'abominevole carrozza, con l'urgenza di dare immediato sollievo alla mia povera vescica... e riconoscere la tua inimitabile zampa di gallina sulla lettera indirizzata a me e appoggiata sopra l'orribile tavolinetto di ciliegio accanto alla porta!
