I've added everything I could think of so no further updates are planned. The mod only focuses on including the talking cards from Part 1 into Kaycee's Mod so there's not much more to add.
The talking cards use their original Part 1 stats by default but you can apply some balancing by setting TalkingCardsBalance to true in the configuration. You can see the exact changes for the balancing below but the Stoat and Stunted Wolf would be functionally identical to the Stoat and Wolf cards in Kaycee's Mod. As the Stinkbug has no direct counterpart it has been manually balanced to account for its cheap cost and sigil. Supporting parents to find more opportunities to interact with their child within their daily routine, and offering guidance on how best to do this, will support the development of their child’s language and communication skills.The card name that designates the counterpart of the Talking Stoat for merging at the Mycologists. Default is "Stoat".
These conversation starters cover a range of topics, from the pupil's family, to how they travel to school. This is great for ensuring that children get lots of practise with a range of vocabulary. Family mealtimes matter. I have long been an advocate of regularly eating meals together as a family as a means of encouraging the positive eating habits of young children, and as the most effective way for them to learn socially acceptable behaviour and manners. What I had not previously thought about was the mental health benefits and I was interested to read the thoughts of parenting educator, Michael Grose, regarding this; Michael goes on to say that while mental health professionals cannot be sure why this is so, that the most obvious reasoning relates to family members taking regular time to eat and talk together which allows parents to keep tabs on how their children are doing and children to grow up with the knowledge that they can talk to their family members about problems and concerns. Both of which are important at any age but particularly as children grow beyond the early childhood years.
You can adjust the mod's settings using your mod manager's Config editor or by manually editing the rykedaxter.inscryption.kctalkingcards.cfg file in /Bepinex/config. Installation
If you have the MycoMerger mod installed, you can also set TalkingCardsNontalkingMerge to true to allow the talking cards to be merged with their non-talking counterpart at the Mycologists event. You can change what that counterpart is in the configuration but the recommended default is Talking Stoat with Stoat, Stinkbug with RingWorm, and Stunted Wolf with Wolf. When setting the card name in the configuration, it must be the internal card name and not the displayed card name. These conversation cards are great for a whole class activity. You could print out a bunch of these cards and randomly hand them out to children. Then get them to walk around the classroom for a few minutes before you tell them to stop. Children should then use their conversation card to talk to the person nearest to them. After talking to them, children can exchange their cards and find someone else in the classroom to talk to. Applies balancing to the talking cards when true and uses the original Part 1 values for the talking cards otherwise. These conversation cards are great for getting your children conversing in your classroom. There are eight different cards, each with a set of conversation starters for children to talk about with a partner. These include: Parents' lives are busy and despite good intentions, between the school run, food shop, and work, the opportunities to engage their child in interactive conversations and play can be limited. In addition, the ability of many parents to interact with their child will be affected by personal experiences and financial pressures. This trail makes it easy to engage with children without having to think about how to do so.
You can optionally install the MycoMerger mod to allow talking cards to be merged with their non-talking counterparts.These conversation cards include simple text, with ideas and prompts for various conversations topics. For example, some cards ask your students to think discuss their favourite celebrity, something they have done recently, or something that makes them happy. You could even encourage your students to walk around the classroom asking different questions, or discussions to their classmates. Not only does this resource help students that may not be confident engaging in conversation, it also helps them to practise their speaking and listening skills. They will be able to expand on their vocabulary, too!
