About this deal

When my request for an advance copy of this book was met with rejection from the publishers, my disappointment manifested into days of heartfelt howling, prompting concerned neighbors to summon the animal rescue team to my doorstep. I laid my case to rest, clarifying that there wasn't a wounded animal within my abode; rather, a disheartened reader left without the means to satiate her yearning for romance. I liked Jess, she felt realistic, bringing Juno up, working and trying to pay the bills. She was smart, kind and family orientated. The stress of her morning routine, trying to get Juno ready and to school felt very familiar! It took me a while to warm up to River, he was quite an unlikeable, workaholic, aloof character to begin with. I did end up liking him more as the story progressed, but maybe a dual POV would've helped here? Fizz. I’ve had sex since birthing Juno, Jess said in exasperation. I’m just saying I don’t have a lot left over for commitment, and I’m not willing to endure boring or outright terrible dates just for orgasms. They make battery-operated appliances for that.

Her daughter was adorable. Also I’m a big fan of the single parent trope and loved the daughter from the very first moment. The DNADuo app is primarily designed for romantic love, with one of the testing criteria being attraction. Do you think there could be a spin-off app that tests and matches people for types of platonic love? Discuss whether matches of platonic love would be classified as soulmates or something else. I loved this book! Basically because I too have fallen victim to those crazy dating shows! Yes! It’s true! They’re fun, wild and make for good escapism! You can tell a lot about what this story is about by the blurb and if you read it, I'm sure you'll agree the concept seems fascinating. I am thankful I have never had to date in the world of apps. Though I'm in my mid-thirties, I've been with my husband since I was a teenager, but I've heard the horror stories from friends and it seems completely unappealing. The thought of swabbing your DNA and finding someone who could potentially be a perfect match... it seems too good to be true.

Give This Book to . . .

But the words Do more things that scare me seemed to flash neon on her lids whenever she closed her eyes between data sets. That’s the one, Daniel said, nodding. You could be right that he needs to get laid, but I’m guessing he does just fine for himself.

I re-read this book by listening to the audiobook of this book. I really enjoyed this book, and the second time was just as good as the first time I read it. I had forgotten the beginning of this book. I think the beginning was so cute. I loved the characters of this book. I love the character of Dr. River, and I think him and Jess is so cute together. I loved the narrator of this audiobook. Jess and River can’t stand each other from the brief interactions they’ve had. There is NO WAY that they are compatible...or is there?

The Instant NYT Bestseller

Maybe not,” Jess said, “but Tinder isn’t going to help me find a quality guy to hold it up, either.” But then Jess hears about GeneticAlly, a buzzy new DNA-based matchmaking company that’s predicted to change dating forever. Finding a soulmate through DNA? The reliability of numbers: This Jess understands. You also have grandparents who live next door and are more than happy to watch her while you’re on a date, and a best friend who thinks your kid is cooler than you are. We all just want you to be happy.” Only Fizzy laughed. Daniel gave a coy shrug. He’s about to launch a cutting-edge matchmaking company.

When we first meet Jess in Chapter 1, what do we learn about her as a character through her moment of reflection in the restroom? How does Jess’s perception of herself differ from Fizzy’s, Juno’s, and River’s perceptions of her? Does her self-perception change over the course of the novel? River and Jess’s relationship evolves from strangers to adversaries to lovers to loving partners. Can you identify specific points where these changes occurred? For each character, when do you think their feelings began to shift from attraction to love? When Jess’s eyes left Americano, horror was rippling across Fizzy’s expression. “ College? When she’s eighteen ?” She lowered her voice when every head in the coffee shop swiveled. “You’re telling me that if I sat down to write the novel of your future love life, I’d be writing a heroine who is happily showing her body to a dude for the first time in eighteen years? Honey, no. Not even your perfectly preserved vagina can pull that off.”This time, this pair has succeeded again in crafting interesting characters in Jess, River, Juno, and Fizzy. Furthermore, this one had a futuristic undertone by using something like GeneticAlly.

Juno: 7 years old daughter of Jess is extremely sweet and I loved her quirky mind! She and best friend Fizzy were scene stealers! At some parts they truly stole the book! So… Her brows climbed her forehead. Americano was apparently very comfortable with pointed silence. Is that a ‘no’ to matchmaking? Fizzy let that sink in for a beat, dark eyes fixed in disbelief. “So, you’re… done? Jessica, you went on three dates with three hot, if dull, men.” I adored all the characters! Jess, a single mom to her daughter Juno. Jess’s best friend and partner in crime, Fizzy. We all need a best friend like Fizzy to push us out of our comfort zone. (Thank you, Susanne💞). I even warmed up to River as his walls came down and he opened his heart. Sparks fly when a romance novelist and a documentary filmmaker join forces to craft the perfect Hollywood love story and take both of their careers to the next level—but only if they can keep the chemistry between them from taking the whole thing off script.God, I know, Jess agreed with a groan. I’m talking to myself in a bathroom. Tells you exactly how my night is going. I was frustrated with the relationship between River and Jess. They explicitly stated that they will be genuine and only real with eachother......but then randomly Jess would be all "ooooh but wHat if it's FaKe because we are just pReTeNdinG to date".......what???
