Then the person before them. Then the next person in the viral chain. The only escape is passing the malicious force on through intercourse — an ethical quagmire. Set in a muted-hue version of Spielberg’s suburbia and invested in the teen perspective (as opposed to straight up slaughtering co-eds), It Follows is a tiny masterpiece, joyfully un-sequeled and unknown, that will have you looking over your shoulders as soon as the credits roll. —Matt Patches I don’t know why, but the Scooby Doo lighthouse gives me The Fog vibes. My son has loved Scooby Doo since he was way little, so every time we bust this out I get a little misty. It’s a super fun build, we all have a blast, and it’s a great addition to any horror Lego set.

This is by far the most exciting I’ve been to build a horror Lego set in a while. I mean look at it! Would you just look at it? Is this not the coolest thing ever? I will be adding Frankensteins Monster to my bookcase and or office for sure. Monster Fighters is about as close to straight horror as LEGO has ever come, with an emphasis on the Universal monsters and everything that surrounds them. Though this line didn’t last quite as long as one might have hoped, it did leave behind some incredibly impressive builds that remain Halloween staples. If you’re looking for something that absolutely screams ‘Halloween’, you’re not going to be able to do much better than the Vampyre Castle.Saw: The movie opens with Shaq and Dr. Phil chained in a basement and Billy the puppet telling them they have 90 seconds to live. A foot is possibly cut off. Mission: Impossible II: The motorcycle battle between Tom Cruise and Dougray Scott is re-created with Dwight and the ghost of Hugh Kane, who are both on wheelchairs instead of motorcycles. John Woo’s signature dove shot is also referenced, with the doves crapping on Dwight’s bald head. There are few shows out there that are able to combine horror and romance without losing something from each genre, and Mike Flanagan’s sophomore Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manoris one of them. The Haunting of Bly Manor doesn’t wimp out on scares nor does the relationship between Dani (Victoria Pedretti) and Jamie (Amelia Eve) feel cheesy or forced – instead the ghost stories and love story are intertwined into a single compelling narrative. So I’m not going to lie, the “ghost hunters” in this graveyard set immediately make me think of Ghost Adventures and I have a little laugh. Overall this horror Lego set was a great add-on to the expanding horror trope Lego set I’ve been building. What creepy town, doesn’t have an equally spooky graveyard? John Carpenter’s The Thing is known for three things: impressively gross special effects, an evocative feeling of cold, and Kurt Russell’s perfectly feathered hair.
