About this deal

Expand your options using the available software to design your own new modes and effects. Macros with different keybindings or shortcuts for more efficient work and gaming. In addition, Royal Kludge is one of the only brands that offer a mechanical keyboard model in a variety of different form factors. This means that users will not be limited to smaller form factor keyboards, especially if they prefer having a TKL or a full-sized keyboard. But thanks to its 5-pin hot-swappable PCB, users are able to put in almost any switch they want. In terms of its Bluetooth capability, the RK61 is able to connect to up to three devices. As for the dongle range issue…I didn’t find much problem as I used the dongle at the front of my case instead. But yes there is dongle issue definitely. Bluetooth works well as an alternative.

The Royal Kludge RK84 is another variation of the company’s original RK61 design. The main difference is that this model has an 84-key design (70% form factor) and uses 2.4 GHz wireless instead of Bluetooth. Royal Kludge is a Chinese gaming peripherals manufacturer that was founded in 2014 . Their main goal was to offer high-quality products at a very competitive price point. The company brought the RK61 to the market sometime in 2019. And unlike the RK61 and RK68, the body is more angled, and there are grills for side LEDs. The RK71 also has magnetic feet, which is a unique way of adding additional adjustments to the height of the keyboard. The keyboard features 2 built-in USB-A pass-through ports and 1 Type-C Port. Use the included USB-C cable to charge the keyboard, or connect it to a PC/laptop and use it as a wired keyboard. Since then, the company has refined the original RK61 formula and expanded it into several other form factors. The company now currently has a mechanical keyboard offering for nearly every size. And while Royal Kludge isn’t deviating too much from their budget-oriented formula, their strategy has proven to be effective since they are still one of the go-to brands for budget-priced mechanical keyboards. Royal Kludge Keyboard Lineup Royal Kludge RK61 Royal Kludge RK61I am a macOS user so I immediately switched the layout over so that it was more compatible. To switch the layout to Mac, you press FN + S. I take one additional step and change the modifier keys in my System Preferences, too, so that my CMD and Option keys are in the right position according to Mac keyboard layouts. And, of course, the typing experience and sound profile of RK keyboards won’t be as good as higher-end keyboards. For those who are looking to up their game with higher-end mechanical keyboards, there are plenty of brands such as KBDFans that fit the bill. Which Royal Kludge Keyboard To Buy? Royal Kludge RK61 The Royal Kludge Rk920 is the company’s full-size offering. Unfortunately, it does not inherit many of Royal Kludge’s essential features. The innovative 75% unique layout differs from traditional TKL keyboards, which cuts more clumsy space off while supporting the same functionality as a practical arrow, multimedia, and control keys. First up, was testing the keyboard in wired mode. All this requires is hooking the keyboard up with the included 5.6 inch USB-C to USB-A cable. There's no software needed, as Windows will detect the keyboard automatically. The wired connection was entirely stable with no missed keypresses; in a typing test, my words per minute dropped slightly, but I'm chalking the small gap up to my unfamiliarity with the layout.

The Royal Kludge RK68 is a 65% version of the RK61. It mostly supports the same set of features as the RK61. Its only real defining feature is the inclusion of the additional keys. The review unit came with linear Red switches, whereas I tend to do my day-to-day work on the tactile Brown switches. Combined with the learning curve of typing on this 75% model, it was a whole new experience for me. Overall, despite the hot-swappable nature of the switches, they all felt well-seated without a lot of bounce to them.RK owns a complete set of automated production lines independently researched and developed, focusing on the R & D and production of game equipment peripherals. It is equipped with a domestic senior electronic R & D team and carefully designed for many years. After years of meticulous research and development of professional mechanical keyboard, gaming mouse and headset and other product lines. Royal Kludge is a mechanical keyboard manufacturer that primarily focuses on budget-priced keyboards. They offer great value products and have paved the way for newer enthusiasts to try out mechanical keyboards. Most of their products also have enthusiast-grade features such as hot-swappable switches. The RK61 does have its limitations. It does not have the widest compatibility with aftermarket parts such as cases and plates. Overall, customizability is also limited. But overall, with its good set of features and very competitive price, the RK61 is one of the best keyboards for beginners or enthusiasts on a tight budget. Royal Kludge RK68 Royal Kludge RK68 We've added a link to the newly-reviewed Keychron C1 Pro/C2 Pro in the Build Quality section of this review. We recently reviewed the Royal Kludge RK87 Wireless TKL Mechanical Keyboard, which we thought was a decent 80% TKL keyboard that’s affordable and compact, offering RGB illumination, 3 onboard Macros, wireless connectivity, and tactile Brown switches. So the RK84 RGB Limited Edition which we’re about to review, should be just as good, if not better.
