About this deal

It is also a PoE camera, but their difference lies in the sensors. The RLC-820A has an integrated 1/2.48 CMOS sensor, while the RLC-822A utilises a 1/2.8 CMOS sensor.

Customise the motion zone based on your preferences. Decide where the RLC-820A will detect movements of objects and where it will not. Multiple Recording OptionsUnsurprisingly, the Reolink RLC-520A shares the same design with the RLC-520 since it’s supposed to be a replacement for the older series. I don’t want to get too much into the recording aspect or stream quality settings as I will cover those in a future post. I will be looking to manage these under some other software, but I did want to get these into Home-Assistant. There are several ways of doing this, with snippets of code and integrations. some are more difficult than others. Fortunately for us, someone has already written a very nice integration for us which takes away all the pain!

Time-lapse can record and shorten long-term events like sunrise, blooming flowers, city scenes, and construction projects. Faster, Simplified & Lower-cost Installation with PoE Technology

From the brand

The solid housing and body of the RLC-820A are also waterproof. It works excellently in and out of the house in any weather condition. Hands-free Control I was using it on QVR Pro and wanted audio as well. but until they add this model to the compatibility list you wont see all the benefits. Camera was set up on ONVIF (ONVIF ProfileS Camera), port 8000 RTSP port 554, which allowed me to have it on 3840*2160 resolution, 25 frames, bit-rate 4096.

Additionally, Reolink cameras are user-friendly and easy to set up, so you can use them immediately after unboxing.

Useful but Controversial:

Unfortunately, I also experience these problems with RLC-820A and QVR-Pro. There's nothing wrong with Reolink's own client no dropped frames or connectivity issues. To make the camera work, you need to use the PoE Switch (IEEE 802.3af, 48V Active) or DC Power (DC 12V1 /2A) to power on the camera.

Like most things in life you get what you pay for and at the moment here in the UK you can get 3 of these new 4k Reolink cameras for the price of one equivalent Hikvision. At the moment I will still tweak it, but not fully as that will be done when the scaffolding comes down. All these additional elements have made the RLC-520A a bit taller than the RLC-520, but, at its 4.13 x 3.74 inches (10.5 x 9.5 cm), it won’t really matter that much, especially since it will most likely end up being mounted outdoors. I am not entirely sure whether the extra-ruggedness was truly needed, but it’s definitely a welcomed addition. The IP66 rating is still there, so the camera will survive in case it’s targeted by powerful jets of water (powerful storms) and it’s also dust-proof. I doubt that you can put the RLC-520A on a pole, so it’s far more protected against lightning strikes than other devices, but I would still take all the necessary precautions to make sure your camera will survive a lightning storm (add some surge protectors). The RLC-820A is compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa for hands-free voice control. Once you speak, Google will show the video on Google Nest Hub or Chromecast-enabled TVs. For Alexa, it will play on Echo Show, Echo Spot, or Fire TV. Specifications Reolink Windows App – Camera Setup Reolink Windows App – Camera Network Settings Reolink Windows App – Camera Settings You will not need an adapter or power cable when installing the RLC-820A. This camera uses PoE technology to transmit data and power simultaneously via a single network cable. With less wiring, you will spend less, and installation becomes more convenient. Remote Access, Control, and Live View Remember, your router should be a PoE-enabled type with Ethernet ports to use with the camera. If your current router is not PoE-enabled, you do not have to worry about it. I just got one of the new 833A cameras, and decided to use it to replace my 820A. I thought it was a good opportunity to share a direct apples-to-apples image comparison.
