About this deal

I've got a small flat trailer that allows me to easily transport the paddle boat from pond to pond with my UTV. Nutrient Competition: Blanket weed thrives on excess nutrients, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus, which are released into the water from decaying organic matter, fish waste, and other sources. When blanket weed grows in abundance, they can outcompete other aquatic plants for these nutrients, depriving them of the resources they need to grow and thrive. This can disrupt the balance of the pond ecosystem, leading to a decline in the diversity and health of other aquatic plants and animals.

I would really like to find a better way to remove the harvested weeds from the water without the pitchforking as I explained above with the trash pump idea. Maybe a bigger pump with a bigger intake. The one I rented only had a 3" intake.

All Jake’s rakes use the Jake’s Rakes pattern which is perfectly shaped spaced and tapered tines that produce a rake that out performs all others. If for no other reason, being in NY state, you should think about subscribing to Pond Boss Magazine to read his regular articles about his research and raising fish, in ponds, in the state of NY. The materials a rake is made of determines its durability and weight. Metal rakes — the most common type used for removing lake weeds — are far more durable, but they’re also likely to be heavier. Raking lake weeds is often physically challenging, and the heavier your rake is, the tougher it will be to use. Before buying a rake, make sure that it’s light enough for you to push, pull, and throw (when applicable) without too much strain. Look for words like “stainless,”“galvanized,” or “powder-coated,” which indicate that a metal has been treated to resist corrosion. Solution 3: Pond Aeration. Proper pond aeration can help increase oxygen levels in the water. Moving water inhibits the growth of blanket weeds and promotes a healthy pond environment.

Rushes, reeds and sedges grow in shallow water at the margins of a pond. Some of these plantscan betoo vigorous even for large garden ponds, covering over the open water entirely in a few years. Forthis reason, regular removal (usually annually) of UK-natives including Glyceria maxima (reed sweet-grass), Phragmites australis(common reed) and Typha latifolia (reedmace)is neededto limit the spread in garden situations

Removing debris: A pond rake is designed to remove debris, such as leaves, twigs, and other organic matter, that can accumulate in your pond. Removing debris can improve the water quality and prevent clogging of filters and pumps. The Big Tooth Lake Rake is uniquely designed to be very effective removing floating lake weeds and debris below. Use in combination with Weed Shear for best results. Often ponds and lakes are lined with wetlands that can make it difficult to get close to the edge. In recent years a growing problem has been posed by a number of introduced aquatic or bog plants. These can be very invasive and can have seriously detrimental effects on gardens and the wider landscape. Species currently banned from sale are:
